I did one when I was pregnant with my son. I thought it was useful because they tell you where to go and what to do when you're in labor. They also show you the labor and delivery rooms and the post delivery rooms (I forget what they are called). They also talk about hospital security and visitation. If the hospital is new to you, it's worth the 30-40 minutes to take the tour.

Edit: WTG JM. Can you seriously NOT get this timestamp thing working?? sheesh This is Missy's post, not mine.

I went. It was helpful since we hadn't delivered there. It was good to know where to go and park and such. Policies on guests were covered too.

Did you or are you doing a hospital tour? I am not doing one this time but I did for my son at the same hospital 4 years ago.
Did you find it beneficial or a waste of time? Beneficial the first time because I like to be in control of what I can or I worry.
What things were covered during the tour?
I was glad to see the security measures and where to go to sign in.
They also showed me the delivery room, permanent room, the tub you can use if you're not hooked up to everything, and the outside of the nursery. I'm sure I'll be a little lost next time we go there but I'm not worried this time since I've been through it before .

My post is going to go above, sorry, but wanted to give my 2 cents

I did one with DD, it was very informative - they showed us the labor and delivery rooms, the area where they do the c-sections if one is needed, the postpartum rooms, no nursery in my hospital, but they showed us where the NICU was and told us of all of the policies (about visitors, rules in the delivery room, also if there was someone you didn't want in the room with you, they will tell you (at least mine did) that they will take care of it if you just tell them, so you don't look like the bad guy). I found it helpful, not sure I will do it again, because the hospital was remodeled right before my last tour, so nothing has changed

We did before DS, as it was new to us. We may do one again because they have remodeled and moved the maternity wing. It was helpful last time.

I only did one with my DD as it was a brand new women's hospital and only did labor and deliveries there (they opened that wing while they were still constructing the rest). I got to see the rooms, find out where to go where I needed to when I arrived at the hospital, see the layout, got explained rules ect. I did all of this while I was preregistering for the delivery. It was literally a brand new hospital. I think I was the first one who delivered in my room. Lol.

We did with our son, it was helpful to know exactly what the rooms were like and their hospital policies and whatnot. We're delivering at the same place so no tour this time.

We went to the tour, and I think it was worth it. We got to see the L&D rooms and the maternity rooms and told us about all the policies for security, caring for baby, etc.

We went to a "required" class that included a video tour. They no longer give real tours as they don't want to introduce unneeded germs to the L&D Floor. I am glad we went to the class though.
