When I was having all the pain Wednesday and Thursday of last week we called my Ob office on Thursday. They had me come down for a urine sample to see if I had a infection of some kind since I was having so much pain. They just called me with the results and said to take Monistat for 3 days over the counter. Isn't Monistat for a yeast infection? I don't have any symptoms of a yeast infection. She didn't even said I had a yeast infection. Can they check to see if you have a yeast infection by a urine sample? She said everything else looked good. When we went to Labor and Delivery on Thursday they also tested my urine to see if I had a infection and they said it came back good. I am confusted. I don't want to take something if I don't have to.
On a side note. When we had our first loss I got a yeast infection and was told to take Monistat and we ended up lossing Peanut. I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not but I am so scared to take something if I don't have to and I am scared to insert any type of applicator up there if I don't have to.
Thank you for any input ladies. I am just scared to take it. Will it hurt Baby if I don't take it?
My regular doctor just called. I talked to the nurse and she said don't take the Monistat until I get checked to make sure I have a yeast infection. I also need to change my thyroid meds. He has to up my dosage. I have been expecting this since there has been no change since I got pregnant. He said my Calcium is low so I have to start taking Calcium twice a day with Vitamin D. Since my regular doctor watches my blood more then anybody else he is going to check on the lab results from the hospital on Thursday to see if my low pallet count is normal for me or not.
Melissa, Thank you for asking about the pain. I am still having pain but not as bad. I just can't do any lifting or twisting. If I do then I get the pain back again.
Monistat is definitely for yeast infections. I didn't think they could diagnose those by a urine test. If I were you I'd call and ask them what they found, and share your worries with them. I was also lurking in one of the other DDCs where a bunch of the mommies were cautioning against using the 3 day one and rather using the 7, because many of them had problems with the 3 day version.
You know your body better than anyone else. Listen to your instinct. If you don't think you have a yeast infection, get a second opinion. You can go to your normal adult medicine doctor for something like that. I wouldn't take anything until you have another test.
Thank you ladies. I am going to call my Ob office today and see what they found out and why they want me to take the Monistat. I am not going to take it unless I fine out why they want me to take it and after I get a second opinion.
I know when I was pregnant with DS I got a yeast infection but dr. actually did a physical exam to confirm the yeast infection and he gave me a prescription cream, not monistat. I'm glad you are going to call your dr to get more info. Are you still having the pain? I'm hoping that it's getting better.
Thank you *Kiliki* for my beautiful siggy
