Hi all, sorry for the lack of update but it has been a rough time here.
I was in icu for 1.5 days on iv blood pressure medicine and my bp is still high.
I am experiencing depression and probably going on Prozac as soon as I can find out if it is safe for breast feeding.

Niko is great! He is gaining weight back with breast milk and formula.
He's an awesome nurser so I hope to be able to keep it up.
He is sweet and calm and adorable.

I miss my other son like crazy but having him here triggers my emotions and spikes my bp.
I can't wait to get home so I am resting like nuts.

They are going to try putting me on Valium to calm me and see if it helps bring me down to where I need to be to get home along with changes to my bp meds.

Edited: Hopefullu going to try something other than valium so I can breast feed.

Thanks for the well wishes and please keep up the prayers

I am so sorry you are going through this... I went through similar with being back in the hospital just a few days after Scarlett was born. It was stressful and I just wanted to be home with my family. It made my bp higher, temperature spike and the uterine infection I had spread more. I could have written most of what you wrote. (oh wait, I think I did, lol).

I ended up with postpartum depression and put on wellbutrin. My depression got worse as other stressers came into my life unexpected and my doctor upped my meds and added a small dose of lorazepam (a form of Valium).

I know how you are feeling and it is such a yucky place to be mentally. Talk with your husband, sit down with your doctor and weigh out the pros/cons of taking the meds. I am just now starting to feel myself again and it is wonderful.

(((Hugs honey))) I will pray real hard for you to feel better. I am feeling your anguish right along with you.

I'm sorry you are going through all this. I ended up back in the hospital over Christmas with my 6th baby and it was extremely depressing. They had me on IV meds and I was trying to pump (she was in the nicu). I have bp problems with all my babies and usually end up with PPD. There are meds that are safe to take while nursing. I've been on a bunch of them. Hopefully they can get the BP under control and you can go home and relax. Hang in there.

Hopefully they can get your blood pressure under control soon so that you can go home. Being in the hospital probably doesn't help your stress levels.

Thank you everyone!

Missy - it is nice to have someone to relate to but i am sorry you had to go through the same things. I am glad you got through it. So can I!

I am on labetalol, aldomet(?), and now they are prescribing a third bp drug 3x a day.
I pray it does the job tomorrow. I need it to.

As for depression, the lc suggested Zoloft and Ativan for temporary relief. I am waiting for the doctor to respond.

I have to hope this will be over in a day or two.

Ativan is the brand name of the lorizapam that I am taking... I took it for 4 days, now I am only taking it if I am feeling the anxiety. ((hugs sweetie)) Try not to beat yourself up mentally right now - it is so easy to do. You will feel better and your life will return to "normal" it will just take time. I was so hard on myself which didn't help at all xoxoxo
