I want to start buying things so bad! Like everytime I go to the store I'm like awwww. I actually find out the gender of next week when I'm 16 weeks so I'll for sure want to buy then!

But I'm nervous about loosing it.

How common is it to loose a baby this far along? (15 weeks on Saturday) Really.

From about 13-20 weeks the risk of miscarriage is about 3%. After that, the risk of stillbirth is combined with the risk of neonatal death (baby may be born alive prematurely but then dies from complications) and that is about 0.5-1%.

(or at least that's what the following two sites seem to suggest)
When Do Most Miscarriages Happen - Risks of Pregnancy Loss by Trimester

to the above...risk of miscarriage after seeing the hb at 7-8 weeks also lowers to about 2-3%, or so I am told. I say, if you want to buy a thing or two for baby, go for it! It is so hard not to live in fear, but honestly, I don't think it will go away until the baby is born, so why not indulge a little and let yourself get excited!

I'm not even 7 weeks, and I want to buy things for baby.

I am refraining from doing so, but I've really been enjoying online window shopping.

If you want to buy things, go for it! I am going to wait until taxes to get the bedroom set and the big ticket items. Plus, I want to wait on the gender to pick the color of the nursery furniture. White for a girl, and dark stain for a boy. We'll find out on the 24th of January.

James and I bought some gender nuetral booties and gloves just to have something, anything. My sister gave me literally 5 or 6 HUGE trashbags full of little girl clothes. I'm going to give them to her SIL if I am having a boy.

Don't let loss ruin this for you! Enjoy it!

I say buy a few things! just keep the tags on, and you can return them if its the wrong gender. dont let the losses keep you from enjoying the pregnancy!

just don't get your hopes up too high for finding out the gender next week - we had a scan at 16 weeks and it took the whole scan to get a decent look at what the babies were - and even then the tech said she couldn't be sure. (we didn't see any boy parts and it looked like girls, but u/s are pretty hard to decifer) At our 20 week scan it was kind of the same thing - they never did get a good shot. some babies like to keep their legs closed!

I say go for it once you know what baby is it's so hard not to buy things.

I have not bought anything but maternity clothing yet.... but I wont know gender until Jan 8th and everything at this point I need depends on what baby is.

I got fabric yesterday and started making baby a quilt My nursey from DD was Greens and Tans and teddy bears and its still that way so I just bought those colors for the quilt.

I say you buy somethings. If you lose this baby, it won't hurt less or more depending on what you've bought. It will be devestating regardless. And your risk is so slight now, you are so far along. I see you be happy and have faith and buy a few things for this baby that you want so badly. Good luck and post pics if you buy something!!
