Well I was a nervous wreck today, went in for my first prenatal visit and did a vaginal-ultrasound. While we did see a gestational sac, yolk sac and fetal pole-- we didn't hear a heartbeat. I am suppose to come back in 2 weeks to check for that, though my OB/GYN said everything measured at exactly where it should and he was confident about the success of the pregnancy.

That's great news. Don't let the lack of heartbeat get you down. You're still so early! Can't wait for your update in a couple of weeks.

You don't hear the hb until after the pole has developed more. It's usually closer to the 7 weeks mark that the heart actually starts to beat.

I hope the next 2 weeks fly by. At almost all of my ultrasounds I had to go back for a heartbeat. But a sac and everything in the right place is a really good start.
