AF showed up for the first time and it has been 3 weeks since the surgery. My cycles have always been 3-4 days long and only 1 day of med/heavy flow. This cycle is heavy - 1 pad every 2 hours. Did you have heavy cycles after having a baby? I am reading different things on google.
I am going to bed soon but I will call the obgyn in the am if it doesn't slow down.

OMG yes, the first PP AF, was absolutely horrible for both Mia's and Selenas pregnancy's. It lasted 8 DAYS! Im now back to 3 days of light/medium flow.....It will hopefully slow down by tomorrow. But with your PP infection that you got, you might have some scar tissue being released....this could almost make it feel like a m/c. Definitely call if it does not slow down a little. I went through a pad every hour for the first two days of my first PP AF. Then it was a bit more normal.

The first 2 AF's for me after Finn, and Moose, were AWFUL!! I have never bled so much. Thought I might die. Perfectly normal. Should regulate after a few cycles.

Thanks girls, I don't remember any of this when I had the boys and this is just another of those things they don't tell you in the pregnancy books. It is just as heavy but I don't have a fever or chills so I will go about my day as much as possible.
I love you girls!!

It slowed down today but it is still heavier than any flow I have ever had. I think we should all write a book.

I'm no help because all of my periods are insanely heavy, but I have heard that it is normal for the first one to be heavy. That being said, I'd still call your OB if you're unsure just for the reassurance

With Darcy my first (and only one) was a lot heavier than normal. This one with Rowan wasn't for some reason.

Im sorry I hope it lightens up.
I had the miranea put in before I have my first A/F and the Miranea made me spot every so many days so I dont think I ever got a true period for almost a year and after it was removed.
I do know my first A/F after all my miscarriages were just horrible.

My first few are always so much heavier and longer than normal, which really sucks, because my normal is 7 days.

I think they should warn us that this could happen. I was shocked - I honestly thought I was going to bleed out. If it wasn't for you girls here I would have made an unnecessary trip to the ER.

Mine have gotten heavier with each baby. I'm afraid of what they'll be like when I start again this time. Thankfully because I'm still nursing pretty much exclusively there's no AF in sight for me yet.

]I am on my 2nd post partum period since having Adam (got my first when he was 7 months thanks to breastfeeding and they have both been vey heavy, this one in particular. I got my first period and then this one 23 days later, and like you missy I was soaking a pad every 2 hours for 2 days. It has finally tapered off some, but they were awful. My first two with Nora were like this too, and they were even more crampy. We are so lucky!

I totally agree Missy! There are a few things that people really need to warn you about. It seems, at least in my experience, that they warn you about everything that is normal to happen with the baby but skip out on warning you about what is normal to happen with you!
