Allergy season is just gearing up in my neck of the woods, due to an early spring, and I'm already suffering! Ick!!

I take a daily loratadine, which the Dr. said was fine, and I know that Benadryl is supposed to be pregnancy safe, but my question is , how much and how often??

I tend to be a little wary of any meds during pregnancy because of my history, but I don't think I'll make it through this spring without something. Any advice??

I'm wondering the same thing. I was going to try the Netipot. My seasonal allergies are so miserable that I don't know how I'm going to be able to function.

I love the idea of the Netipot, but I have such a bad gag reflex, even when I'm NOT pregnant, I'm not sure if I could do it!!

I have a bad gag reflex, too and it didn't bother me. It felt just like getting water up my nose, though!

I took claratin daily during the season with all 3 girls. I missed allergy season with Patrick, which was nice.

As for the neti pot, it only rarely makes me gag (I use it every morning), and when I do, it's because I've done something silly, like try to continue singing while doing it.
mollymalone and Belita like this.

My doctor told me that I can take Claritin during pregnancy. I have horrible allergies and am allergic to almost every tree/grass/pollen/mold. If I do not take meds I would be in the hospital lol. Here is an article on Claritin & pregnancy.

I take loratadine, which is generic Claratin... it's just not cutting it. I wasn't sure what else I could safely do.

Claratin didn't do that much for me either, but it was better than nothing. I think my Dr. said that zyrtec was okay, but I don't remember, so I'd double check that.

Benedryl is still the best thing for me as far as alleviating symptoms, but it knocks me out cold for at least and hour.

I take Benadryl probably twice a week. My doctor says its safe. But I only take 25 mg about twice a week.

As said before it knocks me out pretty good. Haha

allegra works best for me for my allergies. Claritin does nothing. Benadryl would help a bit, I suppose, but mine are about like Katie's! Can't breathe or see from being so stuffed up and runny eyes. I'll suffer, though, if it means a healthy baby in my arms come November.

Another thing you can check on is they have the liquid benadryl for children and it seemed to make me less drowsy. I'm not sure if that is something you can take or not.

Thanks for all of the input! I broke down this morning and bought a Netipot... and it actually WASN'T as bad as I imagined. A little freaky, and I DID gag just a bit, but it gave me some relief. I think I'll try it again tonight.

And like Robyn said, anything we go through now will be worth it, if we get our little ones come November!

I get really bad allergies all year all, and I take Claritin, I took it with Alex as well. Benadryl makes me sleeping, so I don't take it.
