Yesterday I felt crappy all day. When my husband I went to the ER. I had a fever of 104 and KILLER low back pain. I was curled up in a ball crying by the time the Dr finally saw me. I have a kidney infection. I begged them not to admit me, since I have a baby at home. They compromised and said I need to come into the ER every day at 5PM for 5 days to get more IV antibiotics. Followed by 10 days of oral antibiotics at home. They are treating it very aggressively so that hopefully this doesn't hurt Mouse. I thankfully have an ultrasound scheduled for Wednesday, just to check on "him" I am actually terrified. I have been having some cramping. The ER doc said it is very possible that this could cause me to miscarry.

This is really sucky, I am in so much pain! Thankfully my husband stayed home to take care of Peter....

Oh, and they are pretty sure I have strep as well. They didn't do a culture though because the antibiotics they are giving me for the infection will kill strep as well....

It could cause you to miscarry because it's so severe?? I've heard kidney infections while pregnant were kinda "normal". I hope yours clears up fast and you feel better soon. Good luck!

UTIs during pregnancy are normal. Kidney infections happen because you have had a UTI that went untreated.... I think it might be the fever that raises you risk of miscarriage.

I am so sorry to hear this. Many prayers going your way. I hope that baby does well through this. I know there was a lady in my DDC that had kidney infections all through her pregnancy and had to get a cath and everything because that was her "normal" for pregnancy. I hope that isn't what will happen with you, but it gives me hope for your baby to be just fine.
