Hmn this is interesting. I was told this old wive's tale too but my Doctor said it wasn't conclusive and normal for babies heart rates to start slow - get fast then slow down after the 1st trimester. I think the normal range of 'healthy heartbeats' were like 110-180

My daughter was consistently 164 from week 10 - week 15 - at around week 16 her heartrate was 135

I saw that when I was preggo with kieran. Pretty cool stuff!

Both my boys followed the typical pattern. Both had heart rates between 170-180 at 8-9 weeks and fell to around 140-155 by the time I was 18 weeks until birth.

And it was also true of my twin loss. Kierans heart rate was 142 at 6w6d and his twin wa only at 113. They told me they weren't sure if they weren't getting a good read on it, if it started later, or if it was an unhealthy fetus. A Week later there was no heartbeat and the "baby" was starting to reabsorb. By 9 weeks there was barely any sign of it.
