I know I am posting this a bit late, it's because I was kind of knocked out from the Tylenol 3 pain medicine I was given after getting out.
So I was going out today to have lunch with my mother, we were at a red light stopped and some woman came up from behind and rear ended us. The jolt sent me flying foward and squeezed against my stomach, I was fortunately wearing a seat belt.
I immediately got out and went into the near by gas station's bathroom to check for bleeding or any fluid leaking out, there wasn't any but I was having bad cramping. My husband came up there to meet me and take me to the hospital.
When we got to the hospital the cramping seemed to get worse, it felt like contractions and I asked the nurse who was wheeling me up to labor and delivery if that is what it was and she said it sounded that way. So I was put on the Observation for 4 hours.
I was really stressed and freaking out, I could only think of my baby's welfare and if anything would go wrong. I was terrified the pains would get worse and I'd go into labor today. Anyways laying down they strapped the monitors to me and surprisingly - having chronic high blood pressure and just being in a wreck my b/p was pretty good! At first the baby's heartrate seemed a bit elevated but then dropped after laying there for awhile.
The nice thing was hearing her heartbeat, her kicks (and boy did she kick alot) and even hiccups for the first time (she had those two different times) - which was a reassuring sign. The bad part was I hadn't eaten at all that day and I was really famished - they wouldn't allow me any food. So near the end they said everything seemed alright, but I was having a few contractions, they swabbed me to check for a certain hormone that is released during labor to see if I was going in and also checked my cervix. The cervix checking was very painful and I found out I had a vaginal yeast infection I didn't know anything about. I got a prescription for that and took that immediately.
But she said I wasn't dilated, gave some some Tylenol 3 to take for pain - my back was hurting SO bad and I think it was from the accident - so laying for 4 hours on it wasn't fun. It also took an hour to get discharged. I finally got some food on my stomach though and got to eat something I've always craved during this pregnancy - a fruit and yogurt parfait from McDonald' - then finally got home and got some rest.
The only bad part is my pain medicine wore off and now I have a sore back - so I am not sure how well I will rest for the rest of the night. I have my Baby Shower tomorrow of all things too. But at least things weren't any worse, the car was okay and the lady's insurance paid for my ER visit.

So glad you and baby are ok!! Word of advice... do NOT settle anything with the other insurance company until after you've had the baby. I was in a car accident just prior to getting pregnant with Josiah, and my dr. and PT both gave me that advice. They said L&D can often aggravate an injury, even after you think it has healed. I ended up having exactly that happen, and was back in PT after Josiah was born. Just thought I'd share. Rest up, and I hope your back starts feeling better soon!
How scary, I am so sorry you went through all that. I can only imagine what was going through your head during all of this.
I am glad all is looking good with the baby and I hope your back feels better soon. ((hugs))

OMG! I'm so glad you and the baby are okay! That had to be very scary. I agree though do not settle until after you have had the baby.
