Okay ladies so I never sleep I'm talking about I seriously stay up all night and I'm exhausted... I talked to my OB and she said to take Benadryl every night to go to bed. Well I take it about twice a week just so a couple nights I can sleep but every night? Do you think that's dangerous?
My OB is very easy going about things... As I do like her a lot and she actually listens to me she's not very strict. So that's why she was like "Yeah! Go right ahead and take it every night you need sleep!" Well I feel comfortable taking it a couple times a week but can't bring myself to take it everyday cause it makes me so sleepy I'm nervous that's what it's doing to my LO too. KWIM?
What would you guys do?
How do you feel about medication during pregnancy?
I'm fine about medication if it's needed or in small doses... I don't like to take anything unless I REALLY have too. I think I've only taken Tylonel 3 times my whole pregnancy.

Hmn well I know the medicine in Benadryl is usually pretty safe - I know you can give it to animals and children without much problems as long as you take it as directed. I am no doctor/pharmacist but I think you would be okay, I imagine it is much better then taking some other medicines (maybe some specifically for sleep) you could ask about taking a Melatonin supplement instead.
Missing Angels: Sept '11 - 4 weeks & Nov '11 - 4 weeks 3 days
I probably wouldn't take it every night, but I find if I take it once and manage to get some sleep the next night is easier for me to fall asleep.
it is like the old adage of babies - sleep begets sleep. It seems to work for me too.
I'd try it one night, and then see how you do the next without, if you don't need it, you don't, if you do, you do.

During my first trimester, I was allowed to take Unisom (took a half and that was enough) for nausea, also great for sleep issues. Benadryl is on the "safe" list. If you are like me, I only need half a dose to get me asleep But, it is totally your comfort level!
