I went to the hematologist yesterday, had gotten repeat bloodwork done on Monday and he was able to go over it with me. Turns out my levels are pretty much the same. He did some graphing, looked at my history, my levels, etc and said, well, I can make them go up. I was like, ok, let's do it...lol! He prescribed me prednisone (very low dose) and had me start on it yesterday. He said it takes a few days to start to work and asked that I get a repeat CBC once a week until delivery, he must think I am going to be pregnant forever, because next Saturday is my due date and I do NOT want to go past that.
He said that the side effects are weight gain and fluid retention, when he told me that, I looked at him and said, well, I am already doing that, so what difference does that make, I won't even notice
He also wrote in my chart (he is affiliated with my hospital) that I could have the epidural at 75k, my levels are around 72k now, so I look at it as I don't have far to go!
Keep your fingers crossed that the prednisone works it's magic and I can get that epi. I can stop taking it right after delivery since it is such a low dose.
I hope they go up, it's not much, so I hope your changes are good.
You made me laugh with the side effect
WOW I didn't realize your due date was next Saturday! You are so close, I can't wait to see what you are having and see pictures!!
