This evening, I started contracting. I didn't think much of it at first, assumed it was the start of Braxton Hicks with this pregnancy. However, then I had a period of almost an hour where they were coming fairly regularly and lasting for up to 15 seconds at a time. I called the on call doctor just to be on the safe side. Since they weren't painful and I didn't have any other symptoms of early labor, she told me to lay down for awhile and drink several glasses of water. She said if they didn't calm down, to call back and they would admit me to the hospital. Thankfully, 32oz of water later and after about an hour and a half in bed, things calmed down. Phew! I thought I was getting plenty of fluids, but I guess I need to make a conscious effort to up the intake throughout the day so that this doesn't happen again. VERY relieved everything is back to normal! The next 19 weeks cannot go by quickly enough... I just want this little one safe in my arms!
