I think I must be in denial that my baby will be coming very soon. I look at my ticker and hardly believe I'm that close to my EDD. I don't have nursing pads, diapers, or pads for me. We don't have the car seat installed. I don't have my bag packed. It's like I think to myself that baby can come anywhere between 37 weeks (today) and 42 weeks (5 weeks from now) and just decide to myself that it's more likely to be 3-5 weeks from now and that I have plenty of time. It's like I can't believe that after all the losses and trying and waiting that I'll actually get to hold my baby.

Did anyone else have this kind of denial this close to the end?

I don't know if it was denial, but I procrastinated on a bunch of stuff until close to the end and then went nuts doing everything.

We don't have anything either, no car seat, the baby clothes are still in the attic. It's like I have plenty of time, which I do, but I like to be prepare in case it comes earlier.

I do at least have the clothes washed and in the closet, the crib mattress moved up, and a bassinet set up. We have a car seat, but it's not in the car. I have newborn cloth diapers, but they're not setup anywhere and I like to use disposables at first (which I don't have) just to adjust to having a baby. I need to dig out my nursing bras.

I'm preregistered for the hospital, but I haven't had my group B strep test. They were debating making me make an extra appointment because they didn't want to do it at my 35w6d appointment and my next one isn't until 37w4d. I certainly don't anticipate going into labor this weekend, so I think I'll be good for that.

The only thing that we have are diapers and wipes The bassinet from the pack and play is in DS closet, so I'm not worry. But need to get started and the rest of the stuff.

I haven't had the group B strep test either, when do they normally do it?

My doctor said the group B strep test is valid for four weeks, so they like to do it at the 36 week appointment. Since I was one day shy and my daughter was 2 days late, they wanted to wait.

Perhaps my daughter being 2 days late is part of my non-hurry to get things done... My son was a week early, but his water broke before labor started and I needed pitocin to get things going.

I wonder if you are like I was. With my first 5, the car seat and everything was ready by 4 weeks before. With last baby (my rainbow), I didn't have anything ready until after she came. I didn't want to jinx it.

I never did anything till 37wks with most of my kids. I always had them between 38 and 41wks........never any sooner. I did not even take tags off and wash clothes with my rainbows until after 38wks. I wanted too, but made myself wait until the very end.

I did finally go out and get diapers, pads, and nursing pads. I always forget how tiny newborn diapers are!

And I did at least make a list of what I need to pack for the hospital. That's good, right?
