I know this is overdue, and I'm sorry. Last week was a bit tough with having to spend so much time in the NICU. Liam is now home and doing well. He wants to eat at all times, which it males it hard for me to do anything.
So here is the birth story, it all started Friday night, when I woke up at 11 pm with a migraine, I took tylenol, had ice packs, nothing was helping, on top of that, I was having some cramps (what I thought were cramps). At 2 am I finally woke dh up and told me we needed to go to the ER the migraine was getting worse and worse. The ER sent me to L&D (of course), so got there, got hooked up, I was having contractions but they were far apart. They gave me something for the migraine and they sent me home. On saturday, I was still having contractions, but headache was gone I spent all Saturday laying at home, not doing much, contractions were getting a stronger. By nighttime, the contraction were less than 10min apart. I spent all night having very strong contractions, I finally woke dh up at 4am and told him it was time. We took showers, he had breakfast and we got to the hospital at 530 am, got check in, hooked up. The nurse checked to see where I was, to my surprise I was already a 4 . They change shifts, contraction much closer together and stronger, by 8 I was a 6 and by then the nurse said that I might want to think about the epi, about 20 min later, I told her I wanted it, my water broke not too long after that, they gave me the epi (I swear it took hrs for then to give it to me), by now I was already a 10 . BY 930 I was told to start pushing, so they helped me out and 9:59 am he was born
The doctor came to checked him out, said he was perfect. For the rest of the day he wasn't feeding much, and was sleeping a lot, next morning the director of the NICU came and told us they were taking him because of a possible infection . As you know he was there until Monday when we were able to bring him home.
Oh I almost forgot, the best part was when the doctor that kept pushing me to have the c-section came to see me on Tuesday, he came in the room and said, well you did it, you got your VBAC, just seeing the look on her face was worth some of the pain.
Congratulations, Patty! I am so happy for you, and that you got your VBAC. I'm sorry that Liam had to spend time in the NICU. It is a rough thing for a mommy to deal with.
What a wonderful story, and Im so happy you got your VBAC too! Glad Liam is feeling better and your at home with him. Enjoy all those perfect moments, you deserve it!

i am so happy your got your VBAC Patty!!! i remember when you were pregnant with Alex and how much you tried to avoid that c-section, so glad it worked out with Liam even if that doctor didn't think you could do it
I hope you're getting a little rest now that he's out of the hospital, i can't imagine how stressful that was for you and especially still trying to recover from having him (thank goodness you didn't have a 2nd c-section, that would have been even worse!).
When you eventually get the time, i'd love to see a side by side of Alex & Liam's newborn pics...do you think he looks a lot like Alex did that young?

I realized that I never posted a pictures, so here it it.
Lara, I will post picture of Alex and Liam, some people say they do not look alike, other people say they do, so I don't know.
Glad you are both home and he's safe. Too bad you didn't have a camera handy, would have been priceless to see the OB's face. Congrats on your VBAC and little Liam
