Has anybody else dealt with thrush? Was it difficult for you to get rid of it? Jacob was on an antibiotic which gave him thrush. This was about 5 weeks ago. We treated it with nystatin and I thought it was gone so I stopped the medicine which was the wrong thing to do. I have now realized that it is not gone. I am breastfeeding so I have it too. It is terrible and painful. I just want the darn stuff to go away.

ughh i dealt with thrush once with Savannah after she was on some powerful antibiotics, it was a mess to try to get rid of (with girls, they get it on both ends, so you feel like you're fighting it everywhere)...the only lucky part was somehow i avoided getting it even though i was BF her. All i remember was we had to keep doing the nystatin for what seemed forever, weeks longer than the original prescription b/c as soon as we thought we got rid of it it'd pop up in her mouth again. I'm sorry you're dealing with it and I hope it clears up quickly for both of you!

Sorry thrush stinks..

Thankfully only dealt with it once and that was our first (16+ years ago). I didn't realize I had to also and ended up with double breast infection from it. They ended up putting both of us on stuff for about 3-4 weeks to get rid of it. I walked around for week with no bra and topless whenever possible. Thankfully that is all I remember from those weeks of heck.

Thanks ladies. Thrush does stink. And of course the medicine is the stickiest stuff in the world so if I have to put clothes on after I put the medicine on, my boobs stick to my shirt. I think my 3 year old thinks that mommy never wears shirts..lol. I'm either breastfeeding my newborn or putting that darn medicine on so yes I run around shirtless alot also.

We've had it for weeks. It's terrible and painful. This is my third try on diflucan and he's been on the oral stuff for 4 weeks. I've also boiled everything too many times to count. I hate it.

When I had it with my son I had to make sure to clean my breasts with plain water after every feeding and that seemed to help. I also found that the powder seemed to work better for the thrush diaper rash than the cream did.
