Well I just got back from an interesting dr appointment. During the NST Toren wasn't moving. His heart was beating away but even with some stomach poking and wiggling he didn't move (which is really unusual for him). They had me drink some apple juice and almost right away he started kicking around (he loves him some food, my chunker)! But then they kept me hooked up to the monitors because I was having steady contractions. I was told about every 7 minutes. They told me if they increase to every 5 minutes they want me to go to the Hospital. I go back in a week and they are going to do a BPP ultrasound.

I guess they are just being cautious but it has me a little worried. What if I can't feel all the contractions or can't tell if they are every 5 minutes?

Did you feel them everytime you had one while you were hooked up? I think if they are real contraction's you'll definately feel them but maybe something you should ask your Dr. to be sure.

Did they check you to see if the contractions were affecting your cervix? I feel most of my braxton hicks contractions so I think you will feel most of them. I also think if they start affecting your cervix then you will be able to feel them.

My little guy has his moments also where he doesn't move around but then I eat and he starts bouncing away. So glad that they are keeping a close eye on you.

I could barely feel the contractions at my doctors office but now I'm getting a few really hard ones. Like my stomach gets really hard. I think they are every 10-15 mins right now, or the ones that I can feel are. I'm not sure If I'm having smaller ones in between.

They didn't check my cervix this time. They checked me last week and said I was closed and posterior. I go back in 1 week, I don't know if they will check me then. If they do the swab test thing they might go ahead and check me then since my pants will already be off, but I don't know when they do the swab. 35 or 36 weeks I think.

My dr does the swab for GBS at 36 weeks and that is when he starts cervical checks. When I was pregnant with Jacob I went into labor at 33 weeks and dialated to 3 cm before it stopped. I continued to contract very regularly for 6 more weeks but those contractions did nothing to change my dialation so yours could very well just be your uterus getting ready but not really doing anything. you may have an irritable uterus like me..lol.

I had Braxton Hicks starting at 4 months with Addy, my stomach got very hard and I could feel them, but they weren't painful where I couldn't talk/walk/etc. "real" contractions will cause changes in your cervix, these are what you want to be pay attention to. I am kind of surprised that they didn't check your cervix. Did they measure it with the u/s?

Wow Ame, you must be so scared. Try to remember to take long slow deep breaths, lay on your left side and count. If the contractions get too hard or scare you, call your OB.

You are in the home stretch now! It's going to be great!

They didn't check my cervix or give me an ultrasound at this appointment. I am getting a BPP ultrasound next Monday. I'm still having contractions, I can feel them a little better now. They just feel like BH contractions except they are around every 8-10 mins. DH and I dtd last night and I bet now he is going to think it's related and I wont get any more action until after Toren is born... le'sigh!

I'm so done being pregnant because of all the pains, but as much as I hate to admit it, I really want this boy to stay put another 4 weeks! DH's guess is he will be born around December 15th (He randomly sent me that message after I let him know what happened today).

I just got a hand out today about contractions and early labor. It says:
if you're having a contraction you can use your fingertips to feel the top part of the uterus. You will be able to feel it tighten. If you have 4 or more per hour before 37 weeks you should call.
If they continue I'd go ahead and call just to see if they want you to come in. KUP and lots of hugs.

I think it's good your doc is keeping a close eye on you. Sorry to hear about the contractions but thankfully they aren't painful. But I'm sure still scary that they are rhythmic. HOpefully they calm down soon!

Wow Amy, keep us posted about the contractions. Exciting but scary too, as like you said, you want him to stay put. I hope everything turns out great, no matter what happens. Hugs!

I'm still having contractions but they haven't gotten closer together, or at least not that I can tell. I did have some last night that woke me up because my stomach was getting so tight it was squeezing my ribs. My stomach isn't getting as hard today, but still seems to be happening right around every 10 mins.

I had diarrhea this morning and of course the first thing I think of is my body is cleaning itself out getting ready for labor. I've read that's pretty common. BUT I don't know if that's why or because my stomach was upset. I'm taking it easy and playing it by ear right now.

Yes I'm still having contractions but not nearly as often. They are pretty random now. I'll take that as a good or better sign.
