I honestly don't know about the transvag one vs. belly....but was wondering why my doc is waiting on my first U/S until I'm 10 weeks along
But YAY for your news, hate to hear you have to wait another week though. FRUSTRATING I'm sure.

My thought is that if they weren't able to see much with the abdominal u/s, they'd have done a transvaginal. But since they did see the sac, timed & sized appropriately, they just accepted that as fine, especially since you're having another one next week.

I would have thought they would have just automatically did a transvaginal...? I'm not sure though. I'd def ask for one (if it's an option) at your next appointment!

Maybe it depends on the sensitivity of the equipment? These days they are making such leaps with ultrasound equipment maybe they don't need to do transvag so much anymore!

I'm so glad to hear your good news! Especially if all looked well on an abdominal U/S this early on...great to hear!

Congratulations That is wonderful I cant wait for the update next week.

I have never heard of someone getting a non trans-vaginal at 5 weeks. . . I am not really sure what that means. My doctor has told me that you wont really see a clear U/S with out it being a trans-vaginal one until after 12 weeks. Maybe it depends on the equipment? What you saw is all I would expect to see at 5 weeks so it sounds like it was alright but I would ask at your 6 week appointment and just see.

I always had abdominal u/s early on in my first few pregnancies- they would start with the abdominal and then do a transvaginal. I had these at 5/6 weeks.
