Has anybody ever had a child who has had rotavirus? One of the babies in Christian's class at daycare got the rotavirus and had to be hospitalized. So now of course I'm freaking out worried that Christian might get it. I looked online and it looks like it starts with really bad diarrhea which we have not had so I'm hoping that he doesn't get it. Of course Jacob had really bad diarrhea yesterday so now we are wondering if he's going to come down with it. Jacob has been vaccinated for rotavirus so I'm guessing if he did get it, it would be a very mild case.

Christian sees his pedi tomorrow for his 3 month check up so I'm going to talk to her about the rotavirus and pray that Christian doesn't get it.

The child that was hospitalized was probably severely dehydrated. Rotavirus is common, not necessarily as bad as having to be hospitalized as long as you keep the child hydrated, of course that isn't always easy to do. I hope your boys don't get it and that that child recovers quickly!

I don't know anything about it. Is it highly contagious? What are the symptoms? Is it possible to keep Christian home or is it too late, now that he's been exposed?

Hope no one else comes down with it. Most of the time it passes on its own, I think it's rarer for them to need to be hospitalized unless, like humnck said, they're dehydrated.

Leia it is a virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. I don't know alot about it. I think it can be bad in babies and very young kids. I have no idea how contagious it is.

therese I think that if he was exposed he was already exposed. Here's hoping that if he does get it, it's a mild case.
