I've heard it can go both ways--you can lose it and baby comes soon after, or you can lose bits of it and it can even regrow (so I've heard). I lost a little bit of mine about a week & a half before Kody was born. I didn't lose any more of it prior to delivering. So, sort of significant in that it signaled things were close, but not really significant in an immediate sense.
I lost mine at like 38.5 weeks and still had to be induced 2.5 weeks later, but most of the time if it is accompanied by bloody show, you will go soon, very soon Some people are lucky and go within 24 hours, I was not so lucky.
I lost mine this time after my 34 wk appt and it built back up and I never lost it again. Doc said it build ups again if lost early and you're not dilated. But, if you are losing yours on your own, you could be dilating, kwim?
