My baby is 2 weeks old today! She's so beautiful. At her checkup a few days ago she was 8lb 14 oz, surpassing her birth weight by 7 oz! She is a great nurser. The gassiness is still there but a bit better- using mylicon more regularly (pediatrician said 4-5 times a day was fine) and burping more frequently. I've ordered some Colic Calm and gripe water, and will try cutting out dairy as a last resort. The pediatrician said unfortunately it's just super common, and odds are not much will help.

I've gotten a bit more sleep, and am feeling somewhat more sane. I'm a bit concerned about my weight loss. I gained 40 lbs with the pregnancy, and have lost 30 lbs in the last 2 weeks. I'm trying to eat enough. I started this pregnancy about 150, 10-15 lb over my ideal weight (135-140) after a year and a half with my 3 losses, hormone fluctuations and comfort eating. So I have a little extra fluff to start with, but 30lb in 2 weeks seems extreme.

She is so precious!

30lbs may not be extreme, you lose not just the baby weight after the birth, but about 7-10 lbs of fluid right off of the bat. So, if you had a 7+ lb baby, you are looking at around 17 lbs just from birth. Plus, other fluids that have built up, especially if you are swollen, that will just basically fall off. I lost 20 lbs in the hospital alone when I had DD1 and she was 7.5 lbs.

Aw what a cutie. I agree it may seem extreme, but I lost 26 pounds the week in the hospital after T was born. Congrats on your cutie.

30 lbs isn't extreme in my opinion. You had a C-Sec didn't you? With DS1 I gained 55 lbs and I lost 25+ in the hospital after my csec with him. After 6 mos, I was down a total 40 lbs.

I only gained 25 lbs with this pregnancy and I lost 17 lbs in the hospital alone with my csec. I lost another few lbs the first 2 weeks. After that though, it's only been 1 lb every 2 or 3 weeks. I would love to shed the rest quickly. I'm hoping farm work will help me.

If you are not used to caring for a baby, you are going to BUSY BUSY BUSY an the weight is going to fall off. Especially if you are nursing. If you are younger (like under 30) it'll be even easier in my opinion. Don't be alarmed. Your OB will check you at 4 weeks PP and check your weight. If there is an issue, they'll pick up on it.

Congrats on your beautiful baby and your weight loss!
