Jacob is almost 2 1/2 and has started showing interest in potty training so we picked up some pull ups and we have started working with him. Well everytime I ask him if he needs to go potty he says yes so to the bathroom we go where he wants to sit for 30 minutes or more and he never pottys. I feel like I spent my weekend in the bathroom and he never went. I don't remember it being this hard with Jackson but I also didn't have a new born. I was sitting in the bathroom nursing Christian while Jacob sat on the potty.

And little boys are so hard. He won't let me push his penis down so he sits there with the darn thing sticking up so if he did pee he would soak the bathroom. I had him standing some but I'm not sure that would have been much better.

Moms with older kids when did you start potty training?

Well, I have 2 girls, I always hear they are easier. With Reagan, I tried once, she wasn't ready, so I didn't push it. A couple of months later, she showed interest again, so we put underwear on her and just asked her a few times if she had to go. I didn't use pull ups except at night and nap time. I think sometimes they are too much like diapers and confuse children, but that is just my opinion.

With DS he was about 2 1/2 before we started, it's been so long I don't now remember how long it took. With DD when she was ready we did a 'potty party' way (potty train in one day), and it actually worked! It was awesome. I hope Truely will be as easy.

Cary that's a good idea to just use underwear during the daytime. I may try that with Jacob and see how he does. A little girl would definitely be easier since you don't have to worry about them soaking you with the pee.

Oh, Reagan manages sometimes to pee through the crack in the seat...lol! Although she hasn't done this in a while.

Oh yes I had a terrible time with Ethan. He would do ok for awhile, then have to go back to diapers...we had to really convince him to want to use the potty. He never liked peeing sitting down, so for quite awhile until he was tall enough, I used a bucket from the training potty and held it up to him to pee into. And for #2...it was a huge struggle. He would hold it until naptime or bedtime and then just go in his diaper. I think he was 3.5 before he was fully potty trained. My husband was really pushy about it though. I wanted to just let him do it at his own pace but hubbs was getting pressure from his family and from friends who had their kids potty train early.
