Hi, My back has been really bothering me. With my DD it didn't hurt like this until I was like eight months or more. I am only fourteen weeks. My concern is that it could lead to early labor or something. I have an appointment on Friday but I was just wondering if any of you ladies had ever heard of this before. Also, when I have braxton and hicks contractions it is only on my right side. I can feel my uterus and it is more to the right than anywhere. Maybe I am just paranoid after my two losses, but it is possible that I could have something wrong in my uterus and carried my DD just fine? Just needing advice. Thanks

I can only speak to the back pain question, but I'm a week behind you and my back is killing me. Mostly from sleeping on my side and getting twisted and partly because I believe I'm getting another UTI (would be #2 this pg). I can't find a comfortable way to sit, which is making work difficult at best, and if it hurts enough it makes me nauseas. So you're not alone.

Sometimes my BH made my uterus firmer on the right side when I was early on (20-26 weeks), but they're pretty much all over now. The last three u/s I've had show her on her left side, so there is generally much more activity on the right side of my uterus, which is normal b/c that's where her little arms and legs are moving. Maybe that has something to do with it. I would check with your dr if you are concerned - he/she can give you peace of mind.

Back pain can be normal during pregnancy. Try to stay positive. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I think you should call and tell the Dr. about this because you have had 2 previous losses and you are more worried now. The Dr. may be able to put your mind at ease. Better to be safe.

When I had DS, I used a hot pad on my back for 2 months. That was early on. The pg book said you get back pain later in pg, but I had it early & then it went away.

Thanks so much for your adivice ladies. It is good to know I am not alone. I am definatly going to ask my dr. I go in tomorrow. I was just worried. It is also good to hear that someone else had BH just on the right side. I need that reasurance right now. I have had some cramps this morning, I haven't had any of those in a while. My dr. is out of the office today. The nurse said unless I am doubled over in pain do not worry. I was never in so much pain with my two I lost that I was doubled over, sure it was sharp, and more painful than my periods, but not doubled over. Is she right? I can't wait to go in tomorrow. You girls are great

I had a lot of back ache early on in this pregnancy and I don't have any right now. I also worried about it being a sign of premature labor but it wasn't. Try not too worry too much. I think back ache is normal at any point in pregnancy. Apparently one of the ways you can tell normal back ache from premature labor is that if it's normal it tends to get better or worse depending on the position/activity you are in. If the back ache becomes different, more intense and there is nothing you can do to relieve it, then you should contact your doctor but otherwise you are probably fine.

As for BH contractions being only on your right side, the uterus is tiled to the right (which is why they tell us to lie on our left side) so it is very possible that you feel BH contractions more on the right.

I hope this helps a bit. Take care.

Thanks girls!!! I went in on Friday and I had to see a practioner, my dr. had an emergency. Or at least that is what they told me, becuase I seen her across the hall when I was coming out. I got sorta mad, but then again, maybe she did have an emergency and had to pick who she was going to see for the day, and since I am doing well maybe I wasn't a priority. I really like her and try to think positive, her practice has really grown and I have seen a huge difference in the care. Anyway the practioner didn't at all get what I was telling her about the contractions, but told me the back pain is fine. I get to find out what I am having on Nov 6 Question about heart rate, it was only 130 is that ok? They acted like it was fine but I am used to 168 or better. Anyway you girls are great!!!

130 sounds just fine. My baby started at 170 but then went down to 140 and has been there ever since. according to my doctor 140 is perfect.
