Hey Girls,

I started cramping today, and not your nice low, quite obvious ligament pain, but higher up about an inch below my belly button, starting at the sides of my bump then radiating to the centre below my button..... anyone have any suggestions what it might be? Any recommendations? I'm starting to worry.... and frustrated cause hey let's face it, all is supposed to be smooth once you've reached that magical 16 week mark.

Thanks in advance.

Erin

Is there any particular pattern to the cramps? Are they happening every 20 minutes, every hour? Or do they just come and go throughout the day? Do they go away if you drink a glass of water and lay down for a while? Just a few questions to think about. If there is any worsening or regular time pattern I would say to get it checked out, at least for your own piece of mind.

At the same time, cramps can be just normal pregnancy cramping and stretching, belly stretching, etc.

Good luck!

Who told you that it was suppose to be smooth after 16 weeks?? I personally with this pregnancy cramp quite a bit, it always stops after a few hours and the doctor said that some women are "lucky" to have a irritated uterus that likes to cramp. So don't think that it has to be bad news, but DO go and make an appointment with your ob to be checked and to make sure that it's nothing. If you start to bleed or spot I would go in to the er.

I agree with Wildflowers, who said that? lol.

I had quite a bit of cramping on and off all throughout my pg w/Cora but it didn't mean anything. It didn't mean I wasn't calling my Dr. though!

So far, other than random muscle twitches, I've not had much of anything. I think God knows I can't handle that!

Thanks ladies, for all the reassurance. I had an appt set for next Tuesday, and I think I will just keep that one, unless I start spotting.

Thanks again.

sounds like a little things doc's like to call round ligament pain....

growing baby = pushing and pulling on your insides

I still get them and the doc doesn't seems to thing anything of it. Doesn't hurt to ask but most likely they will just say its normal growing pains
