I went to the midwife for my very first internal today. The appointment was at 12pm. So finally got to see the midwife half an hour later than scheduled. Baby is still head down. Babies heartbeat was fine nice and strong. Urine test was normal. Blood pressure was again higher than I usually am but still with in normal limits. She did the internal it was as bad as I thought it would be. I am about two centimetres dialated but the midwife said that once yourve had a baby before you can sometimes be two centimetres dialated thru out the next pregnancy. I had never heard that before but I was talking to my sister and she said her midwife had told her the same thing. The midwife said I am still thick but the cervix is super soft and she could feel the head. SO I have to go back on friday for another internal and hopefully I would have progressed.

I hope it happens soon! And I have heard about being dialated throughout your pregnancy after already having a couple kids- not that you start out your pregnancy already dialated, but that dialating happens sooner and faster than it does with your first, sometimes as soon as after the first trimester or something.

Wow! How exciting to be at the end! Congratulations!

I have a question that will probably be kinda dumb, but since I've never been through this I'm curious. Why was the internal as bad as you thought it would be? Do they do something I'm just not aware of? I don't find normal internal exams or paps that bad, so are they worse than that? Thanks for indulging my ignorance.

melissa, from personal experience i think sometimes when your so close to the end, your crampy and you may be sore and when they push all around with their finger it can be really uncomfortable

internal are super uncomfy when youre pregnant and that far along because you are ao freakin' "Full" that having someones fist up you just adds to all the pressure!!! They literally have to jam their fingers up to feel your cervix, and that hurts! Oh the memories!!!!

I hope your little guy arrives soon! It sucks being overdue doesn't it! LOL. I went in when I was 12 days over, to be induced ,and i wasn't dialated at ALL..... still wasn't after 2 days of induction either

(.... but then it all worked at once, lost plug, dialated to 3cm, water broke - and then had emerg. c/s)

I was induced at 13 days over when I was pregnant with my daughter. I didnt like being induced I thought it was too much pain in the space of such little time. I had the first lot of gel at around 8:30am then the second lot at 2:30pm I had regular contractions at 3:30 and had her at 4:29pm so the labour was short but I felt like the pain was more severe than when I had my son and his labour was 4 and a half hours. I was hoping to go into labour on my own with this one and I do still hope that will happen but I have NO labour signs at all and I am 6 days overdue.

i really hope you go on your own and soon. i can't imagine being overdue. i was a little early with mine. i was induced with dd and i hated every second of it. they started the pitocin around 10 pm had her at 1:29 am. and i wasn't contracting when i went in, i had a silly nurse who was determined that she was going to be born quickly b/c my water broke at 7:00 that night. i asked her to ask the dr to stop the pitocin and she said no.
