Hi everyone,
I'm fairly new to this forum but I would like to share my situation, hopefully someone can relate and help me out.
OK here it goes
DH and I have a 2 year old DS, he was such a suprise and we had no problem conceiving at all. Since having him I've had 2 BO's the first 3/04 and the 2nd 1/05. This past mth. was our first month TTC. LMP was May 19th and we got a +HPT June 15th, I was already starting to spot a light pink brownish discharge just like I did with my previous BO's so I called my doc. immediately and he had HCG and progesterone tests performed at 4w4d, well before even getting the progesterone results back he put me on prometrium orally 200mg three times a day. The HCG doubled like it's supposed to and everything has been fine until today. Exactly 6wks and started to spot pinkish brown stuff again. So what I'm wanting to ask is has anyone ever had this happen and went on to have a healthy pregnancy? I'm wondering if this is a side effect of prometrium or if it is another BO and the supplements are not working?
I just have so many questions, I plan on calling my doc. and maybe he'll let me test my HCG again. I'm scheduled for a u/s next Wed. on the 6th I should be exactly 7wks then but I just feel like it's going to be a disappointment.
I'm sorry to make this so long, if anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it.
I wish the best of luck to everyone!!

I had my last loss in Dec. of 2005. In April I found out I was pregnant again. Two days after I found out I started spotting brown then pink then red. I bleed from week 4 to week 10-1/2. I am now almost 17 weeks and everything is fine. I was so upset when I stared bleeding because I just knew I was going to lose this baby. Thank God I was wrong. So keep in mind just because you are bleeding does not mean it will end bad. If you would like I journal at the Labor of Love under loveslittlebabies in the Due Oct. to Dec. catogory. If you would like go and read some of my entries in April and May. Maybe it will bring you a little peace of mind that all could still be ok. Best of luck to you. Take Care Anissa

Hi

I had the brown spotting since week five and it only stopped about a week ago and baby is still fine. I did have some red blood during week 8 but it turned out to be a lesion close to my cervix and didn't affect the baby at all.

I was told as long as the discharge wasn't accompanied with cramping it is generally fine. But I would get hold of your doc anyway and find out if there is a way you can go for an u/s to see if everything is fine. I was also on oral progesterone supplements for a week and all it did to me was some bad morning sickness and dizziness but I suppose it is different for everyone.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Thanks for the responses, I got lost and finally figured out what website this was. That does make me feel alittle better, the brown d/c has stopped my u/s is this Wed. I should be 7wks then so we'll see what happens then.
I guess it's just scared me b/c with my other 2BO's it started with the brown spotting. The prometrium just makes me feel really drowsy, I haven't had any morning sickness at all which makes me alittle nervous.
Anyway thanks for the replies and best wishes to all.

Just wanted to add a quick update. My u/s this past Wed. did not go so well unfortunately. Once again we only saw a little black sak that was so small he couldn't even measure it. My HCG that day came back at 1090 and my doc. said at 7wks it should be at the least in the 2000 range. I was supposed to go back again today for another HCG but due to hurricane Dennis everyone in Bay county is under mandatory evacuation. My doc. office will not open until next Tue. so I'll just have to wait it out and hope not to miscarry before then.
I do have one question maybe someone can help with. I just would like to know what tests need to be run? I'm sure my doc. will let me know that, but I just don't understand what the problem is. I am a healthy 21 yr. old and this just does not feel real. I'm not in a rush, and we have faith that we will conceive again but just for us personally we have to find out what is causing this.
Basic testing was run when I had my 2nd BO, so what else is there to do?
Anyway thanks for any help and best wishes to all.

I was testing for many different hormones, thyroid, chromosome issues for me and bf,progesterone, also an hsg.Which is a dye they put into your uterus to see if uterus is shaped ok and tubes are open

Update...
After testing HCG levels for 2 weeks and them dropping drastically I had the D&C. Pathology testing came back normal. When I come back for my 3 wk followup my doc. said he would start me on Clomid. For anyone who is using or have used it before, does this sound like to soon to be starting? I'm sure he will explain it all to me, but I just hope the Clomid works, on average does anyone know how many cycles I will have to take it?
Best wishes to everyone

I don't know anything about Clomid, so I can't help you there. I am 28 and have had 3 m/c as well. 2 were B/O. Have you thought about seeing a specialist? Your situation is different than mine because you have one child already, but that still doesn't mean they shouldn't test you for autoimmune deficiencies and blood clotting disorders. You might also have a progesterone deficiency. What was your progesterone level when they tested you? I started the prometrium after I started spotting in one of my pregnancies and I think it was too late already. I am pg again and this time I started on 200mg twice a day as soon as I thought I had ovulated. When I went in for my u/s last week, they told me my corpus luteum was almot non existant, so it is a good thing I am on progesterone supplements. So far so good for me, but I'm not a success story yet. It is still early.

Sorry about your losses. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the reply. It is great that after 3 mc's you are successfully pregnant.
My doc. did test my progesterone level but I do not know what is was. He just said a little below and put my on 200 mg. tid. Although I believe I started them to late. Just a question...is brown spotting really early on in a pregnancy a sign of low progesterone? I had that with all 3 mc's and it never stopped.
Although we are eager to start the Clomid I think we will go ahead with the genetic testing, I don't want to be kicking myself in the butt over it later if the clomid dosen't work.
Best of luck to you,
Shauna

First, for having to go thru so much!!!

I have been on clomid and I would go with what your doctor says if you feel up to it. I mean ... if your emotionally ok. I know that I miscarried at 9/10 weeks on October 10, 2004 and Was 6 weeks pregnant at the beginning of the year and that was to soon for me but now Little Miss Madison is on her way and I am excited about her.

This is all up to you. I dont think your doctor would do something to hurt you. But, again if your emotionally not ready to go thru another pregnancy you could always hold off a little longer!

GOOD LUCK TO YOU. Pretty soon you will be holding your new little baby and all this will seem so far away!

Shauna,

I'm not sure if spotting means you have low progesterone or not. Good luck with your next steps toward getting pg.

After getting all the results of the bloodwork I had done, which were all normal. I am starting the Clomid this month. I am on cycle day 2 right now and will take the clomid on cycle days 5-9. I feel so excited and ready for this, for those who have taking clomid just curious as to how many cycles it took you to concieve?
Wish me luck, I hope this is the month for us!!!
Also my doctor gave me a BBT and chart to use this month, I've never done it before but it dosent' seem that difficult.
