Well, I went back into the doctor today just for bloodwork. They only checked my progesterone (I wished they had checked my hCG levels too...)

Anyway, last week at 3wk5d, my progesterone was 25 and he said it looked great. This week it had dropped to 21.1 (4wk5d), and he said that he wanted to double my progesterone supplementation to 50mg, and come back in another week for u/s and more bloodwork.

Do yall know if progesterone levels are supposed to rise while you are pregnant? Shouldn't it have gone *up* if anything? From what I have read, it isn't horribly low, but I am just terrified that this isn't a good sign that it is dropping.

Progesterone numbers vary day to day and even hour to hour, and yours haven't fluctuated too much. And 50 mg isn't much, many of us have had to use 200+ mg. Sounds like he just wants to keep you over 20. Some docs are even OK with 15 and up. Try not to worry (I know that seems impossible).

i agree with katherine on how the progesterone fluncuates and after having all of these ladies convince me i definately can say so myself that it does happen. the first time i had my progesterone checked it was 38..then the next time, 2 days later it was 27 and i freaked out. they did put me on suppositories 2 times a day and it stayed in the 20's, i never had a spot of blood or any problems so try to hang in there, everything will be fine!!

I had the same scare last week. My progesterone dropped from 60 to 38. It totally freaked me out. I talked to my RE today about it today and she said that it's very common for progesterone to fluctuate. She feels that anything over 15 is good. Hope that helps!

My levels were 13.7 at 4 weeks and fluctuated between that and 20's. I never had a hint of spotting and things are going well now. I was on 200mg prog supp's daily. Like everybody else said, the numbers fluctuate throughout the day.

((hugs)) as has been said, prog. levels can - and do vary throughout the day, so if you had your levels taken at different times of the day, that could be the reason for the decrease. That said, it isn't a HUGE decrease, so i would take it as being related to the time of day
