So I had my ultrasound yesterday.

First off my Ob had someone go in labor so we had to wait 2 hours extra!! I was really disappointed with my ultrasound too. I really thought this one might be a little longer and that he would actually look at the baby more since my baby might have a genetic brain disorder that my son has. He did the nuchal translucency measurements. They were normal. The baby measured 2 days ahead at 11 weeks and 4 days. I was glad about that. There was no way to see the sex, my baby is sitting on the yolk sac and the placenta LOL! It was sort of cute how he/she is sitting on everything. The baby had the hiccups while we watched and was moving its arms and legs a bit. He/she seemed sleepy though.

I got a dvd of the u/s but it messed up about half way through and didn't get all of it. Which really made me mad, and also the u/s pic he gave me is not good at all. I don't think he is very good with the u/s machine.

What made me mad was he acted like he didn't really know what he was doing when he did the NT test. I am glad he isn't doing my other u/s. I felt rushed and I didn't like that.

I go back in a month to him and then I also start seeing the genetics specialist for ultrasounds in April. I have 3 more u/s for sure April 17th, May 3rd and May 17th. They will be looking closely at the brain to try to deteremine if this baby will have Joubert Syndrome or not.

I am sort of sad cause I wanted the baby to be moving a lot. My son didn't move much at all so I thought if this baby moves a lot it would be a good sign. I was glad at least the baby was moving some, I am just not sure if maybe it should have been moving more.

He didn't do the heartbeat at all so I have no idea the rate of it. I am glad to know my babe is doing well though, and now I am dying for April 17th to get here.

Oh and I am feeling a lot better finally!!

Oh and I will post the u/s pic prob next week. My dh has my camera. Its not a very good u/s pic anyways.

It's about time! I was getting worried about you. I'm glad the baby looks good-too bad about the stupid u/s tech. I hate feeling rushed. You are so lucky though, that you get to have tons of ultrasounds.

It wasn't a tech, it was my OB!! He doesn't use a tech. I guess that is why I thought it would be better since he is the actual doc.

Wow, I'm sorry the u/s wasn't the experience you'd hoped for. I'm glad you got to see your little one moving around some and that things are going well so far. Hopefully the next 3 u/s will go better and you'll get lots of great pics!

That's why I think it's better to have a tech do it, sometimes doctors are just too overworked. Thankfully you will see a genetics specialist and they should do more to give you answers. April will be here before you know it. At least everything seems to be good with the u/s!

Thanks ladies. I think I have calmed myself down a bit. I know even if this child has Joubert that is fine, its just so hard cause I really really want a healthy baby. If I have another Joubert child I am getting my tubes tied and not taking another gamble again.

The specialist I am going to see called and changed all my u/s dates so I am happy to say I get to see my little bean sooner this way!! Woohooo!

Hey Jess,

If it makes you feel any better, at my NT ultrasound, the baby was very sleepy too. The critter would move its arms for a few seconds and fall back to sleep. The U/S tech was having a heck of the time getting the baby into the position she wanted for the measurements. She ended up having to bring the Radiologist in, who had me cough two times. That sure woke up the baby! But then the critter fell right back to sleep.

I'm sorry that you appointment was a little disappointing, but I'm glad that everything looks good so far

Sleepy babies must be really common for u/s these days! Mine didn't want to move much either when I had mine done.

At least you did get to see your bean again, and the NT measurments were normal. And your next u/s will be here before you know it!
