so i took a nap today..got up at 4pm and went to the bathroom only to find pinkish brown blood when i wiped. i freaked out and screamed for dh who was sick on the couch..called my ob and they said to come in. Meanwhile i had used my doppler and found the hb so i was eased a tiny bit by that. The spotting wasn't going on to my panty liner but it was a good bit when i wiped..

i get to the ob's office and as im waiting in the room, i grab a tissue and wipe lol because im paranoid and all and there was the smallest sign that i had spotted at all..my ob comes in and first thing she does is feels my uterus from my stomach and says its growing nicely and then she gets the doppler out and find the hb as soon as she sets it on my stomach. she smiled and said the baby sounds great.

now its time for the internal..she does a swab to check for infection...says she sees NO active bleeding..then checks my cervix with her fingers and says it's long and closed just like it should be. I should also add i havent cramped at all throughout all of the spotting at all so thats a plus i guess.

anyhow..the verdict..yeast infection..she gave me a cream and also dh and i dtd yesterday am and she said i could of irritated something then but there were no signs of that on my cervix so who knows.

to say the least im back on edge..what if the bleeding comes back and its worse..im so scared. This doppler i have is going to get its money used until i monitor movement..thats for sure!!!

anyone else every experience something like this? anyone ever have 2nd trimester bleeding and the baby still be okay??

A lot of people have bleeding during their entire pregnancy. Its normal, just not super common. My SIL had full blown periods til she was 6 months pg- cramps, heavy bleeding... the whole bit!

I had a lot of cramping and spotting with Leah til about 15 weeks- we were told no sex til 12, so we tried at at 12, then I bled and swore it off for another month! Poor Rob...

Anyway, take it easy girly, you'll be fine- yea for the doppler, I wouldve freaked out too! Its nice you had that instant reassurance of hearing the heartbeat!

thanks steph..what color was your spotting? lol It was pink and brownish before i went to the dr. and now at home its red tinged discharge..still nothing on my liner but when i wipe..do you think its just fresh from her doing the internal? what i don't understand is..she said she seen no active bleeding so where the heck is this new blood coming from?

I had a few episodes of spotting since the second tri started.. all were within a few hours of dtd - once it was even red which had me REALLY flipping out. I had called my doc about it, and was told that because of increased blood flow, and such that it's very common. Also, anytime it does happen, I'm to avoid dtd for at least a week after. Fortunatly, it only happened 3 times, all between about 11 and 16 weeks. Haven't had anything since.

I had no spotting or anything during the first tri, and everything seems to be fine with the baby. But it is scary.. just when you think things are going great - BAM! Reality check hits ya. I hope the spotting stops for you and everything is smooth sailing!!

oh sweety, that must have been so scary for you! I would think that it was probably DTD y/day that caused the spotting, because the cervix is VERY sensitive during pregnancy.... I'm so glad that everything is okay, but can totally see why you are on edge.. I would be too. I know a lot of women who've had 2nd trimester spotting & been fine!

Glad to hear that the spotting has stopped Danielle, and glad to hear that everything is ok with your bean. I hope that it stays away for you.

I am glad to hear all is okay!! I had lots of bleeding with my son in the 2nd and 3rd trimester after having sex. My OB said that was just going to be normal for me.

I had spotting every 3 days from the day I found out I was pregnant until I was 11 weeks. Then it stopped, but started again after we dtd. It started as brown or "old blood" but then turned light pink, then streaky red and then just bloody. (TMI) AND I was cramping too! Hows that for a scare?!?

I had spotting (it was pink) in the 2nd trimester. I was around 22 weeks, they said it was from an infection of some sort and I had to take a bath or two a day with only warm water (below 100 deg) and could only come up to my hips.

I also had some spotting at 14 weeks, that was from DTD.

I am so glad to hear all is ok...I bet you are so happy you have the doppler handy, I sure wish I would have!!

I had no spotting, just bright red heavy blood (SCH) related. I think your OB is right, it's probably due to minor irritation and also the yeast infection. You may experience that everytime you DTD.

thanks for all of the replies. i did have a tiny bit of brown spotting a few hours ago ..im guessing its old blood or left over from that red streaking i had lastnight after my internal. the baby is still doing okay according to the doppler so im not as scared, i just really don't like seeing any blood at all.

I'm glad it turned out ok. How scary! I had bleeding with #1, just like what you are describing when I was 16 weeks. It turned out fine (obviously). However I did have PROM at 36 weeks- don't know if it is related or not.

I LOVED my doppler with both #1 and Sadie. It was my life saver more than once!
