ok, so today I got a call from the hospital that my dr. sent a referral to.....I KNOW that certain things have to be checked out because of my age & diabetes..BUT......first of all, this hospital is almost 2 hours away from me...
my first appt is 12/11 for the counseling, then 12/21 for an NT scan....

My only gripe is....I have been diabetic for 8 yrs. I control it with diet, my averages are in the NON diabetic range , I went to "counseling" with my last pregnancy at another hospital....now I have to do this again...so someone can go over the food groups, tell me to drink juice when my blood sugar is low.... & basically tell me everything I already know!!!...... I have explained this over and over and OVER.....why do I have to go through this again???? I know it is a small price to pay, but it is a PAIN!
anyone else ever HAVE to go through this when they already Did??

GEEZ! That DOES sound like a pain! I'd be pretty firm and let them know that you've already jumped through those hoops and that you have ZERO interest in doing it again. Be a little snotty, but not too snotty. Explain that you're 2 hours away no less! I've never been in that predicament but I do have the habit of being impatient/snotty in situations like that.

lol...I tried to be a little snotty...and it hasn't worked....yet
I just dont see the need to go for the diabetic stuff.....and have NO idea what to expect for the genetic counseling....
I guess they'll just keep telling me about all the risks since I am of "advanced maternal age" they put it so politely!

every time.
But its worth it in the long run. Just reaffirms you know what your doing and that everything is going to be ok.

Dee you know I love you and LOVE the fact that you are loud and proud that being older is not a reason to not have a baby. That being said - the phrase "advanced materal age" just made me spit up my water I was laughing so hard. Is that really what they said to you? I can't even believe that. Too funny. I am sorry you have to go to this boring two hour away diabetic thingy but look on the bright side - you are going because you are preggo!!!! Yippee!!
