Has anyone on here rented or bought a doppler and use it all the time? I have major issues. I can search for hours for the heartbeat and never find it but DH can find it in two seconds - No joking! I am getting kind of jealous that he can always find it. What's wrong with me that I can't find it? Any tips? DH keeps trying to show me what he does but it never works for me. I need some doppler advice please!

I rented one and it was my sanity saver! I used to find it below my belly button off to one side. If you have a tipped uterus it could make it harder to hear. I found having a full bladder of water helped as I layed down on my back to hear it. More the doppler slowly across the belly.Remember that you lille one wil be lower near the pelvic area at this point.

Good luck!

I am borrowing one from a friend. Does yours have a digital read out of the BPM?? Mine does so it is easy to tell what is mine and what is babies. I usually find it really low to the left side or middle. It helps to kind of point the probe toward your pelvis and have a full bladder. Also lay flate when you are searching. I know if I start to get nervous because I haven't found it, my heartbeat starts beating so fast and loud that it makes it that much harder to find babies. It could be you are just scanning right over it. Go really slow. Other than that, I have no clue.

I haven't used a doppler by myself, so I am no help, sorry!!!!

I would imagine that it's easier for someone else, because of their position. Ugh, reminds me of when I went to the doctor for a headache problem at 38w & the stupid doctor couldn't find Gabys h/b on the doppler!!! I knew she wasn't doing it in the place my m/w does it to get it. God that was terrifying.

Thanks the advice girls! I told DH how jealous I am that he can find it last night and he laughed at me. He said it's obviously easier for him to see the right spot and reach it. I guess I am getting a little big now...LOL! He also said it gives him something that only he can help me with and it makes him feel special. I never thought of it that way. I guess maybe I don't need to be the one to find it. I will always have him around to do it.

Well, then, it's good that you let him do it. I think men feel kind of left out of our pregnancies a lot. I always tell people that I feek bad for men in a way...they will never be able to feel a baby from the inside like we do and we get all the attention when we are pregnant. I know it's sometimes miserable for us, but it's got to a little hard on them too.
