Hi everybody. I'm new to the board. My name is Amanda (29). My dh(33) and I have been married since August 3, 2007. We found out we were pregnant on our honeymoon (August 10) we lost the baby Sept. 18 at 8 w 4 d after seeing a heartbeat. We were given the okay to try after 3 cycles and so our first cycle trying we are pregnant again. LMP was Dec. 15th. I had 4 BFP HPT's. Had blood work on Monday Jan 7 and my hcg was 50 progesterone 13.44. Had it rechecked today hcg was 127 and I have to wait for my progesterone. The doctor's office was concerned about my progesterone level and I might have to start progesterone. Does anybody have any experience with this? Please let me know. Thanks Amanda

i never had my progesterone checked, but my dr put me on it as a precautionary measure. it wasn't too bad! it seemed to make a lot of my symptoms a little worse like the morning sickness and sore boobs. and it was really messy, but other than that it wasn't bad. congrats and welcome!

congrats!! Your HCG looks great. It more than doubled in 48 hours which is wonderful. I have been on progesterone pills and progesterone suppositories. On the progesterone, my sex drive just took a nose dive and it made me dry down south. I was also a bit more emotional, but all that could have been just pregnancy and not the progesterone. The progesterone suppositories made me really raw, but weren't that bad to be on. Good luck!!

I was on progesterone because of my levels and have a healthy baby girl to show for it. I think my levels were about the same as yours. It was just precautionary. I wasn't a huge fan of it, because I think it made my morning sickness worse, but it was worth it!

first of all, congratulations on your pregnancy.

i am little over 8wks pregnant and am taking progestrone suppositories, 100 mg once a day. I take them at night right when i go to bed to avoid too much mess (i still were a large pantyliner when i sleep b/c there is some seepage).
i have a history of recurrent m/c so that is why i am on progesterone. at 5 and a half weeks my levels were at 16, but this was after i had already been taking the progesterone supplements.
one thing my doctor did not do a good job of warning me about is that progesterone suppositories can, sometimes, irritate the cervix and interior of the vagina and cause some brownish discharge. i have had some slight colored discharge as a result of the medicine, it has been off and on. but he has now assured me that it is from the progesterone (it made me very nervous due to my previous losses).
other side effects are similar to pregnancy symptoms- tender breasts, headaches, nausea. i think most of my symptoms are from the pregnancy itself, but i have noticed that i get quite a few headaches so i be sure to drink plenty of fluids and rest when i need to (if i can).
i will look for your posts and try to answer anything i can from my experience.
