I finally get some time to post here and then things start going crazy again!
My sister called the other day to tell me her 12 month old son was admitted to the hospital. Apparently he has been taking some pretty powerful antibiotics and has been running a serious fever for several days (in the 102-105 range).
Well today she calls and says they are tranferring him to the pediatric ICU in Wichita. His white blood cell count is pretty high and the antibiotics don't seem to be taking care of the fever. He must have some sort of infection they are not picking up on. My sister is worried....obviously so. She is also about 10 wks pg and I'm worried about her and the stress of all of this. She told me she's never had a baby this sick before....and I know it's scary to see your little one so sick and not be able to do anything about it. I think part of her is glad to get to a medical center where they have loads of equipment and many good pediatricians to choose from. When you're from a small town you get what you get.
She's on her way now with her son via ambulance to the Hospital. I'll keep you all posted....but I'm rattled I have to admit! I'm just so worried and I'm hoping they find an antibiotic and the problem and fit them both together!!
