My feet just swelled up last night and they are so incrediably gross they are making me cry I hate being ugly all the time

That's not the point of my post though. I was reading through some internet sites on edema to find out how to reduce the swelling and they all said if the swelling is excess to call your dr. So my question is how do you know if it is excessive? I mean my feet are REALLY swollen but I thought that was normal???

SOME swelling is normal for the most part, BUT if you think they are REALLY swollen, I'd let the dr. know.........

Like Dee said some swelling is normal. I went up a whole shoe size with Kaylie. But if you can push on your feet with your finger and the spot stays indented I would say that is excessive. Also if it comes on fast it is good to let your doctor know.

Hope you feel better Sabina. Keep your feet up and lay off the salty foods for a while. YABBA DABBA DOO!

I am resting on my side right now. I see my doc on Monday so I will ask her then. It so weird to see your feet so big! I can't believe they are mine. I have to go get some shoes tomrrow cause none of mine fit.

Make sure to stay away from excess salt, and make sure to drink plenty of water...sounds silly, but it is true. Hopefully your swelling will go down with laying down. You havent had any extra headaches or floaties in your vision have you? those along with excessive swelling can be signs of pre-eclampsia. if you have had any of that, i would try to call the er or you dr...otherwise, when is your appt on monday??

I really wouldn't worry about it too much, but go ahead and tell your doctor. Almost every woman swells up while pregnant, I know I did. Excessive swelling is if you can leave a large indentation, or most importantly, if your face or hands are swelling up, call your OB!When I got late into my pregnancy, I could feel the water moving just under the skin on my feet when I walked. Gross I know, but it's not uncommon. Put your feet up and feel better!
