I think this is a pretty common fear hunny - so you aren't weird or anything!

I personally started buying things straight away I think for *me* I felt like IF I bought things, it was like saying to the baby "Right missy/mister, I have spent money on you so you HAVE TO ARRIVE in October now!!!"

.... at times I did feel as though buying things was jinxing everything..

I only bought one thing for Erin before she was born. I already had pretty much everything, and SO many people bought me things. But I wanted to buy Erin and outfit that was HERS and not originally Cora's, kwim? I had to force myself to buy it too.

As for diapers...I didn't buy any of those before she got here either. But then again, I returned 5 packages of diapers after losing Cora, so I was traumatized about diapers.

Everyone is different, you'll know when you're ready. With our first pg we were so excited-we had bought a bunch of clothes, then lost our peanut at 12 weeks. With Nolan, I bought a few things, never thinking I'd ever get to use them-----I didn't feel comfortable with planning to bring home a real baby until I hit the 24 week mark----I figured at that point odds were pretty good I'd have a little person to put in his room. Then I went shopping crazy, I knew I wouldn't feel like shopping later on---and I haven't stopped shopping since Don't worry, you'll know when it feels right.

for me, shopping is a leap of faith. I make myself go buy something baby around my 8th week - which is when my most traumatic loss happened. Then I dont buy anything for myself until around 18 weeks. This time I went out shopping around 16 weeks but I was purchasing with pregnant friends in mind and saying "well if I have a xxx, i may just decide to keep this, but I'm buying it for xxx"

Two nights ago I bought my 1st boy thing for my baby- a 3 pack of organic kimono style onesies. I feel better now, like I have more faith in things working out as I want them too. It's amazing how $8 can change your outlook. I'm getting ready for my baby, I'm putting this in the hands of my faith. Yes, I still worry but I am getting ready because I am hopeful and excited.

Dee I just gave up after SO many friends were buying tons of stuff for him. His closet is already pretty full and I haven't even had a baby shower yet! My friends and family are really going nuts and I guess I just decided one day - I am not going to let them have all the fun So I jumped in head first!

i have not bought one thing yet (unless you count some maternity clothes). i have looked at stuff a couple of times, but that is it. i want to get something, but i am still scared to. on the other hand, i really, really want to.
with my four losses, i had already bought one item each time, which i am glad b/c i have something tangible to remember each one by. maybe that is why i have been holding off this time. i have had the urge to shop alot the past week or so. within the next month i would like to start getting a few items and then i plan to crazy after i find out the gender.
