So, Ayla's crib mattress is almost down to the lowest level it can go. The side slats are up to her shoulders and when she wails in there when she doesn't want to go to sleep she hangs her head over the top to look out the bedroom door. Well, I don't know what the heck she did or even how it was possible but I was downstairs tending to the dishes while she was upstairs trying to fall asleep - she usually cries (not a real cry, more like a complaining session) for a bit then rolls around and goes to bed. So I'm loading the dishwasher listening to her as normal and out of the blue I hear this thump and then silence - OMG. To me that sounded exactly like her falling out of her crib. !!!!!!! So of course I run upstairs thinking the worst and when I get to her room there she is, out of her crib, on the floor. Not hurt. Not crying. Just chillin' there. Now, my 3yr old shares the room with her and she was there sitting with her on the floor. I asked her if Ayla fell out or if she "helped" her out - she said she fell out. Ayla had a slight red mark on her head where it is possible she went down head first but I really have no clue. I can't imagine she could get out on her own considering how high her slats are now but with that head of hers and how far she hangs it... I guess it's possible. I have never had a baby able to escape their crib until well down the road - closer to 2. Needless to say, I'm lowering the mattress down as far as it can go, or we might have to go to the playpen.. anyone else's baby trying to climb out this early??
