Johnny's been doing a lot of yoga lately - mostly downward-facing dog.

He goes from sitting or on all fours, puts his hands flat on the floor, then stands on his feet. 9 times out of 10, he sort of falls over back onto his butt, the other 1 time he goes back to hands & knees.

Is this preliminary standing behavior? He's just now getting good at the crawling thing, so I'm wondering if now he's just going to blast through the rest of it - standing, walking, running, world domination...

Alexa didn't do that, she finds things to use to help her stand up. But maybe that's his way of trying, LOL

We call Mason Mowgli (from The Jungle Book) because he crawls around with his butt in the air when he is on a surface he doesn't like or sometimes just for fun. It cracks me up!

Anyways, to answer your question both my kids did what you are talking about for a while before figuring out how to stand on their own. It's like they are testing it out and get just a little bit better at it until one day just figure out how to go all the way up. Mason just started fully going from all fours to standing on his own this past week. Johnny will get it any day now!!

So far neither one of my kids has done that. Both of them started pulling up on stuff then they would get brave one day and just let go.

Like with everything else, all babies develop differently.

Jojo does yoga poses all the time, lol. I'm not sure if it's her just liking to show off her butt (uh-oh) or if it's prelim standing. Either way, it's funny.

Amelia started pulling up onto things, but now that she just stands on her own, that's how she does it. Just puts her butt up in the air and stands up. Maybe he's going to do that instead of pulling up on stuff!

Maci did downward dog for about a month before she started crawling. She is pulling up now and still sometimes does downward dog. It's so cute!
