Ok DH and I have been using condoms as our birth control. We are both not happy with using them and ladies you all know what I mean when you go from no condom for over 9 months then have to use them you can tell the difference. At target last week I saw these Spermicide strips that you insert before sex and you dont have to use a condom. Have any of you used them before? My body does not seem to like birth control pills, shots, or patches so that is out.

I've always heard spermicides alone are not effective enough and should be used with condoms. It has to be put in place 15 minutes before intercourse. That would be awesome if they were more effective. I am hating this hormone BC crap.

I have never heard of that. But we've always just stuck with BC and condoms, until about 3 years ago when we switched over to NFP.

You could do NFP and then use condoms the times when you have to use something.

Most spermicides are a secondary method (usually to condoms). I don't know that I'd trust it as a primary method.

There are non-hormone options - like the diaphragm. It's old-fashioned, and usually requires a spermicide supplement, but it's non-hormonal and pretty easy to use. It has a slightly higher failure rate than some other methods, though. And the IUD still comes in a non-hormone form, too.

Yeah, Paraguard is one of the most popular if you want to look into hormone-free, reliable bc.

I have paragard and I LOVE it. Non-hormonal IUD. But it depends when you are planning to TTC again....we are waiting until Jacoby is 2 or 3.
