My mom always got all of us kids Halloween shirts to wear throughout the month of October and I have been doing the same thing my kids since J was born. Heck, I actually do it for all the holidays lol.

Also, since Jaleigh has been born, we always meet for trick-or-treating at my mom's house and my youngest sister goes with my mom and step-dad, myself, and J. This year we get to add Kiefer. My sister is in 5th grade this year so I'm afraid this may be one of the last years that she is on board.

We do the pumpkin carving. I know Lyra can't do it this year, but I am going to carve a pumpkin for her. I think she will really enjoy preparing the pumpkin anyway. I am sure she will try and eat the "guts" (as I call it), as she tries to eat everything.

We don't really have any neat unique traditions though. I want to start something with her this year, I just don't know what. I should browse the web, and see what I can come up with for us. We will always dress up and give out candy, but I want something different that Lyra will remember forever, and maybe carry on with her children someday.

When I was a kid it was going to the pumpkin patch, picking out the perfect pumpkin, and taking it home to carve. My mom would also save the pumpkin seeds and toast them... mmm toasted pumpkin seeds.

I don't think Seb is ready for the carving bit but I think we will be taking him to a pumpkin patch this year.

Well, we have several FALL and Halloween traditions:

I found a Halloween-themed advent calendar with little doors for a Countdown to the holiday! I put a little mint or candy in each door.

We go to 1-2 fall festivals (with rides, crafts, games, petting zoos, and such) in Sept/Oct. We go to the same one every year and then try a new one in another suburb.

We go to the pumpkin patch 1-2 times.

The kids each have a fall/halloween outfit to wear to all the different events.

For their 1st Halloween, baby gets Halloween pjs.

I also found a park that I absolutely love for fall/halloween pictures of the kids in their fall/halloween outfit and halloween costume! We do that every other year.

Halloween kid party at Dh's office the Friday before Halloween. Each dept at his office decorates in a different theme. The kids go ToTing to each dept. And then, there is party snacks and treats in the board room for everyone.

On Halloween, we started a new tradition last year. We found the perfect neighborhood (my sister's) for little-kid ToTing. There are only about 20 houses all close together with short walks from sidewalk to front porch (good for small kids). Most of them decorate their houses with lights, themes, and such. The kids ToT. And then, at the end of the block there is a park where they have a Halloween festival - costume contest, "scary" campfire stories, bake sale, HUGE "haunted house" and more.

I watch horror flicks throughout the month of October and usually see one in theaters. And then, I have a handful of "scary" cartoons for the kids to watch throughout the month.

I would LIKE to go to an apple orchard but haven't found one anywhere near us.

Obviously, I LOVE this time of year and we do tons!

Janna reminded me...we have an awesome apple orchard in a little town about 20 minutes away. They have a fall festival and corn maze every year and we plan to make that a new tradition cause the kids had a blast this year.

Also, the Texas Tech fraternities and sororities are all in a place called Greek Circle. They have special ToTing at Greek Circle like a week before Halloween and I have been taking J there every year since I was still going to Tech when she was born. She likes it so much we will probably do it every year from now on.
