Well sh**. I guess it's time to admit that I have a terrible mouth, especially when driving. I can't help it! I like all those naughty words. But with Hunter now beginning to recognize words, I have to work on this!

Anyone else struggled with their potty mouth? Any ideas on how to break the f***ing habit?

LOL!! We have issue with it here. My older two heard words in the car especially, repeated it once. I told them how they shouldn't say it and neither should mommy, I try really hard to watch it. I must admit though the first time I heard DD2 (when she was 2) shout "Jacka$$!" when someone pulled out in front of me, it was all I could do not to burst out laughing.

In my house those are "Daddy Words"...which has worked pretty well from them being repeated outside our household. Oldest DS knows that he can't say them until he's a Daddy. lol

But he has let some slip, when I'm driving. Most notably when I gut cut off going to Starbucks he exclaimed "Oh F@#K, god **** car"...which is not me...but DH. I could care less but he likes to have "conversations" with other drivers.

When they do slip, I don't make a very big deal about them, but remind him that those are Daddy words and DEFINITELY not to be repeated at school! It has worked for us

Me too. I have a pretty bad mouth, and it's something I've been trying to work on for years. The way I see it, it makes me look very unintelligent when all I can do is spurt off a bunch of curses. The funny thing is that I was a preschool teacher, and I never let anything slip in 6 years! It was a pretty amazing feat.

I know I have to do something about it soon too. I can add the F word to just about any conversation in any context. It's sad. I need to start wearing a rubber band to snap myself when I let one out. That worked before for me.

Sometimes though...F*&K is just the right word with the appropriate connotation. But I agree with your point lol....

Haha I'm no help in this department as I've got a super foul mouth too. The way I see it is kids usually start swearing once they hit their teenage years regardless of the parents' choice of language. All you can really do is try to teach them that you shouldn't use those words until you're much older.

I have the same issue and i have a four year old. He has repeated unpleasant words as well. THe thing is im normally not potty mouth untill i spend time with friends who care less. Then i just bring it home. I need to not only focus on it for my kids sake but as a substitute teacher and school bus driver i dont need it.

I don't swear much unless I'm pretty fired up, but DH has some work to do. I've been reminding him lately that soon enough Riley is going to be repeating those words...

Same here!! Luckily so far my 6 yr old hasn't repeated. He knows they're bad words and says only big people use them.

I totally agree with this... unintelligent and just not very creative! So maybe that's how I need to think of this: every moment where I'm tempted to curse I should try to come up with something crazy (and rated-G) to say instead.

Cricketjuice!

Buttmuffin!

Weaselpants!

LOL! We were just talking about this at the shore with family. We started saying

Fudgesicles!

Smashtastic!

Biscuitlicker!

Cheddar! (instead of Sh*t - kids' idea)

There was a ton more, the younger kids were having fun with coming up with silly words.
