Okay, DH and I love the Fourth of July, and we have a great neighborhood for fireworks. With Hunter going to bed so early, we didn't buy any this year but settled in on our back deck to watch the neighbors behind us set theirs off. Except we couldn't enjoy it: we were too scared for the NINE and ELEVEN year olds who were lighting the roman candles, flaming bottle rockets, and sundry explosives!

Seriously! Would you let children that age set off those kinds of fireworks? Are we just scaredy-cats now that we have a baby?

i dont really know fireworks by their names... but fireworks in general scare me!

this was the first year that CA has legalized fireworks to the public.. so people where buying like crazy and the stands were selling out quick..

i bought my Hunter a child kit... but he wouldnt have lit any himself, and he would have only held the sparklers.. but even that really scares me.. im not a huge fan of them because sooo many things could go wrong with fireworks!!

last night at the firework show.. they had two or three fireworks that exploded to low.. no one was injured or anything.. but these were the really HUGE fireworks and soooo many people were sitting so close to them.. they just freak me out!

I can't remember how old I was when I first started shooting off fireworks. I think I was probably right around that age. The only thing my dad wouldn't let us have was sparklers, he was scared we would poke an eye out

I grew up out in the country and you don't even want to know what we got into. But different times and different place and I don't think we will raise the Kid quite so laid back.

Uh no, my 12 yr old isn't allowed to light anything major. He likes the little tanks that roll and pop, he can light those because nothing comes out of them and we make him use a stick lighter. This year, no fireworks show, all fireworks banned so I didn't have to worry.

I honestly don't think I would let my kids do that that young. There are plenty of fun firework type stuff where it's not going to shoot off. Two years ago was really the first year I even lit a firework before.

We totally set off crazy fireworks in our driveway when I was growing up. But my dad lit them!

It wasn't until college when I felt comfortable holding a beer in one hand and a lit bottle rocket in the other. Sheesh.
