Marti's question about lovies made me wonder: who here had a lovie when they were little? What was it? Do you still have it?

Yes I had a lovey. It was a wonderful large woven blanket with satin edges. It was off white with a boy and a girl imprinted on it. I very vividly remember my mother taking it from me when I was five and throwing it away because she said I needed to stop sleeping with it. My mother is pretty much a vile person that I tolerate the presence of a couple times a year. That is one of many things she did, I remember crying for the rest of the weekend!

I had a small pillow and blanket that I slept with every night. It was kept in the linen closet at my parent's house for years after I was done using it and my Mom "let it go" (I can't bring myself to say "threw it away!") when I was an adult.

I had a favorite shirt. It was Mickey mouse, but I called it Nicknick now. My parents tried to sell it in a garage sale and I stood by the able and cried "not my Nicknick now shirt". It was outgrown by years at that point!

I had a Winnie the Pooh bear that I took the shirt off of and renamed Cynthia. That poor thing had one of its eyes ripped out by my aunt's dog, and when I had my tonsils out when I was like 10 I took it to the hospital and while I was under a nurse had put surgery tape over it and drew an eye on lol. A few years after that one of my dogs got a hold of her and ate the stuffing out of her head, so now she has a deflated head but she's still around!

I had "dog dog". It was a stuffed hound dog that kind of resembled snoopy...my mom fixed him sooo many times when he'd fall apart. She sewed his ears and tail back on at least 2 or 3 times..and now they're just held on with safety pins. Most of his stuffing is long gone too. He's still in a closet at my dad's house now.

I had a blanket called "Kitty Blanket". It was yellow and had kitties all over it. It fell apart so many times but my mom and grandma sewed it back together!

LUCKILY ~ I never had to get rid of it, throw it away and 'grow out of it'. The only rule with it was that it had to stay in my room 24/7 and I could take it on trips. But if my parents found it anywhere else other then my room, they would "ground" me from it for a night. I learned my lesson fast!!! I still have it. Could never and will never get rid of it.
Now that Remington has a favorite blanket and I know how much he loves it, I think we will have a great understanding about his blanket. I will never tell him to get rid of it. Why should I? It's not hurting anyone

Ohhh! This kinda breaks my heart. I had a blankie too -- it was soft quilted cotton with a satin edge, and I dragged it everywhere because I loved to rub the satin edge between my thumb and fingers. It's still in a cedar chest in my parents' house. (I gave it up when I gave up sucking my thumb because it was too hard to do one without the other!)

Also have a pot-bellied raccoon named Poppy that I got for Christmas the year my Grandpa died (age 5, I think). I slept with Poppy in the bed until the day I went to college. He's still with me too!

Yep, still have it! It's a lamb.

A few weeks ago at my mother's yard sale she was selling some of my stuff and she said she couldn't find lamby, DH said "because it's at home on my bed"

It's not really on our bed though... That would be weird. But it's around somewhere.

I had a stuffed elf named Sparkly, he was a promotional doll for 7up in the early 80's. I got him for my first Christmas, I called him Parky and liked to rub his face and hands (they were made of soft velour) while I sucked my thumb. I gave him up when I gave up sucking my thumb (same reason as smashie). He is still aat my parents' house.

Shortly after I gave up sucking my thumb (and Parky), I won a stuffed dog from my dentist. His only name was my puppy. I would sleep with him every night but he always stayed in my room unless I went on an overnight trip. I slept with him until a few years ago He is still in our room, on top of the bookshelf.

I still have mine... she's a stuffed doll with a plastic head that wore a pink gingham dress and had dark brown yarn for hair . her name was b.a.b.y . My mother laughs about when I was little and learning to talk... I was in the car one day with b.a.b.y and I looked at her and said "don't you **** on me b.a.b.y!" Mom and Dad watched their mouths a little better after that haha.

I had a stuffed koala bear that I vaguely remember, but he was replace by my cabbage patch kid when I was around 4 years old. I still slept with my cpk through highschool

I still have her, along with the 2 other cpk's I got through the years. They are sitting on a shelf in Chloe's room now.

Yes, I had a blanket that was quilted on one side with really soft fabric and on the other side was some kind of knit fabric with little trains. I used it so much that all of the batting in the middle disintegrated. I think I have it around somewhere still.

I also had a few select stuffed animals that were favorites.
