Kairi just had her 6 month shots, yes, about a month late because I just didn't want to have them done and now I regret it. She's been sick for two days now, fever spikes to 103 and she's been screaming for two hours now. My lousy pediatrician says that's normal. She's screaming so loud she's shaking. Tylenol only brings the fever down to 99. She's vomiting up horrible smelling stuff, not her regular spit up.
She's not making eye contact and hand flapping constantly. I feel like I ruined my kid. I knew I wanted to wait on shots but I let myself feel pressured into getting them done anyways.
Maybe it's just the frustration talking. Anyone else's kid react this bad and still end up find a few days later? I'm ready to panic and drive to the childrens hospital.

I'd go to the hospital if Susie were acting like that, regardless of whether or not she had shots. I hope it's just a passing illness.

I did two things before getting the Kid's 6 month vaccinations. I put a numbing gel on her thighs and I premeditated her with children's Tylenol. She handled the shots much better than her previous one's, I suspect due to the numbing gel. She did spike a fever the first 24 hours but after that she was back to her normal self.

I would take her in to get checked out. Riley's never had a reaction to his shots, especially not like that. Keep us posted. I hope she feels better soon.

Daegan has never had a reaction more than just some redness at the area, I would be going to the ER as soon as possible personally

The other ladies are right! I think she needs to see someone. That definitely doesn't sound like a typical reaction to shots.

This isn't your fault, though. You didn't ruin your baby -- you did what thousands of parents do every day to protect their babies. And now you'll protect her again by getting this checked out. Stay strong, momma!

I am no help because we have only done DTaP. 103 should always be checked out. I think you should look into a new pedi

Sorry for the very long delay in response! Kairi ended up being sick for about 12 hours and grumpy for several days. She had febrile seizures during her fever but nothing since. Apparently the DTaP reaction can get worse each time, usually the worst reaction is on the 5th vaccine. After discussing her reaction to the 2nd one with her doctor, she won't be receiving another DTaP until she's quite a bit older. Otherwise, she's back to making progress like usual, she's just apparently one of those kids that doesn't handle the DTaP well.

I'm glad she's doing better and you have a plan of action with your doctor. Being a mom is scary stuff!

How long after she got the shots did you notice a reaction? I am just wondering because when my baby got her 1 yr shots (including MMR, Varicella) she developed a fever a week later, and a couple of days after that she got a horrible rash that started at her head and progressed down to her feet.
The dr. admitted it was probably viral, ie related to the shots (weaked viruses). And I am just wondering if we should expect a worse reaction next time
I hope your little girl is much better now!!
