...like a bump on the log. I've noticed we have quite a few crawlers/schoochers in our group and meanwhile the Kid makes zero attempt to hang with her peers. She doesn't even roll from place to place though she can roll from front to back or reverse. Don't get me wrong, we haven't baby-proofed so this feeds into my laziness but, what gives?
According to the official milestone chart she is still on the curve but I am beginning to get a little paranoid. I know this is most likely because I am a first time mom but anyone else have a chill-Kid who seems content to just lay there like a stuck bowling ball?

Every baby is different and she will do it when she is ready. JAden took forever to start sitting up but being late sitting up he made up for it in crawling. So don't worry she will soon. Encourage tummy time and bicycle those legs to strengthen them.

it will come with a paff!! Victoria started scooting... but once she did by the end of the week she is on all 4s rocking and doing anything to crawl! i need to get my gates up! but she was also the kid that i forced tummy time on and gave her a paci so she wouldn't cry while on her tummy.
But every kid is just too different but Victoria is a week and a few days older than The Kid! i find even just a week at this age makes a huge difference... she learned to scoot forwards/backwards in 1 week!

Brendan has been sitting for awhile but makes no effort to roll around, crawl or scoot. He can roll because I have seen him do it but chooses not to. He is super lazy...my SIL put a paci a few inches in front of his hands and he grabbed the blanket he was laying on and raked it closer so he could grab it without moving lol.

Nathan is motivated to move when the cats sit near him (but out of reach), otherwise not so much.

Daegan rolls and pivots but he's not scooting or crawling. He also makes zero effort to pull himself up.

Riley is one of the older babies here, and he doesn't crawl, scooch or pull up on stuff like the other kiddos around here. And he definitely doesn't climb stairs like Jax. He's just started being motivated enough to TRY and get things that are in front of him but just out of his reach. He can also roll, but doesn't use it as a mode of transport. You're not alone and I'm sure the Kid is going to be just as brilliant as her parents! Maybe she's just too smart to fall for all this baby crap. One day she's just going to stand up and do a cartwheel or something...

Some of these posts are cracking me up. So we have a lazy baby club going on, we should come up with a mascot. I am thinking the sloth.

Uh yeah, Christian is so lazy, he will hardly even sit. He uses the dogs to get around, like seriously hanging on to their collars and they army crawl and drag him along. He thinks it is HILARIOUS.

Last week Jax was army crawling and sitting, this week he is crawling, pulling himself up and climbing stairs! It is amazing how fast things change.

Darcy doesn't even sit. She'll scoot, but won't sit. Sometimes she'll sprawl herself out in a weird pose but that's about it. I agree, every baby is different.

Makayla kinda scoots backwards..but other than that, she's a lump. She's not making any effort to get up on all 4's or anything, and she doesn't roll to get anywhere.

We've got a sloth. When the edict came down that he'd be moving into the next level at daycare, the new daycare teacher basically blamed me for the fact that he wasn't crawling yet. She gave me this super snotty look and said, "Some parents just hand the child every toy he wants, so there's probably been no reason for him to crawl."
Scuse me, lady? I think you just met me. And I think I shell out enough dough to this place not to be insulted when I bring my kid in. 'K thanks.
Seriously! Not every six month old crawls!!!

Smashie, you have remarkable restraint. I may have snapped right back at her, "That wasn't a very subtle passive-agresive dig at my parenting style, was it?" But then, there is a reason I don't have any real-life friends locally.

Who I would so be looking for a new daycare....or at least talking to the owner if that wasn't the owner who said that.
Zach is still lumpish status too. He rolled over FINALLY a few times, now he does it like he's been doing it forever...even gives me that "what? I do this all the time look" when he's made it over and I squeal with glee that he did it. He will pivot a bit on his tummy and is really into pelvic thrusts when he gets excited but that is about it. But he does sit pretty ok until he throw's himself backwards.

Katie is sitting right there next to her. Though without the bumbo she might fall over after a minute.
My first was late at these milestones too. He was tripod-ing by 7 months, crawling at 9, etc. I am not worried about Katie. The later she does this stuff, maybe the later she walks.

My kid doesn't do much either. I put her into a sitting position since she can't pull herself into one and she stays for maybe 2 mins. She's not making any effort to do anything else...pretty lazy.
