Alex has turned into a nightmare at bedtime. I used to feed him his bottle, then he would just lie down in his cot and go to sleep. Then i used to lay him down and pat him. Then it was rocking him gently from side to side as he lay down. Now its a big struggle. I try patting him and he wants to roll over onto all fours or pull himself up to standing. Ive tried just leaving him but im worried he will hurt himself by either pulling himself up and falling or getting his leg stuck in the bars. HELP!!!

trust me hun, he will be fine. Get a breathable bumper and put it on there, lower the crib and let him do his thing. You can even put a few toys in there to help distract him until he falls asleep. Its good for babies to cry sometimes. we cannot always be there as soon as they make a whimper. They need to learn that they will be fine threw the night without us.

Stella was waking up threw out the night every single hour, and I was sick of it, she woudlnt eat her bottle or anything. So finally I just shut the door and I let her go threw her night in her crib and I fed her really well before she went to bed every night. We did this for about a week and I woudlnt go into her room at night at all.

Its been about 3 weeks now and Stella sleeps threw out the night and is less of a whinny baby.

I know its hard to do but sometimes its needed. Good luck hun!

I personally am not a believer in CIO so I still nurse my LO to sleep. If she isn't hungry then I rock her on my chest until she sleeps.

Yep every person, situation, child is different. You must always explore what works for you and your child.

I turn on some nature sounds, lay Riley in bed and give him his bottle. He usually falls asleep eating and then I just take out the bottle and stick in the paci if he'll let me. If he finishes eating and still isn't asleep, I just leave him and he usually falls asleep after a few minutes. If he fusses, I pat his back or rub his legs or put my cheek on his cheek and whisper in his ear. Sometimes I turn him over onto his tummy, and he'll be out like a light. If I'm really desperate and I know he's overly tired, I'll let him fuss for a bit, but in general we don't CIO.

I usually lay down with her in our bed until she goes to sleep then I move her into her crib. I always try to put her in her crib and pat her or rub her back to see if she'll go to sleep in there, but she usually won't..so thats when I get her out and lay down with her.

We feed the girls their bottle and just put them in their cribs. Thankfully they just whine a little (sometimes) and they go right to sleep. We can tell by their cries if they are just tired and whining, or if they really want something. It usually just takes a minute or two before they finally settle down. Thankfully they are really good sleepers so they have always been really good about falling asleep on their own *knock on wood*.

I give him kisses and his blanket and put him down. I find that if he can see me he fusses some...if I lay him down and put the blanket over his head I can sneak out (he pulls the blanket on his head to sleep...I am constantly sneaking in to pull it back down, but he wont sleep without it) and then he settles down and goes to sleep. There are times he will play in there for awhile (last night it was a hour).

I'm bad and nurse Hayden to sleep... I've gotta figure out a way to stop this soon since I've already started weaning her

Gabe takes his bottle and passes out... I detatch bottle and put him in his crib. Since I know he'll fall asleep with his bottle the night time routine is done before he gets it... he's already in a clean dipe and in PJ's when he gets his last bottle of the night.

Meh, I'm lazy and nurse the Kid to sleep. On rare occasions she will be rocked to sleep or even more rare, fall asleep in her car seat.

Ive tried rocking but he just fights against me. Tonight i may let him cry. Last night i let him cry but he got really upset screaming , in the end i fought with him for an hour before he fell asleep. My other 2 boys used to just feed and fall asleep.

At 7 pm, Christian gets a bath and puts on jammies. We play for a little bit and then he has 8 oz at about 8 pm, then I give him snuggies and kisses, lay him in his bed with his lovie, and turn on his birdies that hang on the side of his crib and play music. He always goes to sleep with it playing.

Right around 7ish we Jax gets a fresh diaper and put into jammies, lately he's been getting a bath everyday too. Then I will nurse him until he falls asleep then lay him in his crib.

I wish nursing to sleep worked on Hunter, but he wakes as soon as I shift position. So to avoid sleeping upright for the rest of the year, I had to seek other methods.

We do a "let cry" bedtime. Hunter gets a solid food meal in the evening and then a final breastfeeding. Then we get nighttime diaper and PJs on. Then we read a book. As we go up to his room, we say goodnight to little things around the house. Once in his room, we say a prayer and I may hold him and sway for a few minutes to be sure he's sleepy. Then I kiss him and lay him in his crib.

Sometimes he rolls right over and sometimes he fusses or cries (especially if he didn't get a good nap at daycare). But it's never long before he's asleep, and he invariably sleeps from 8pm to at least 6 am with no wake-ups.

Let-cry isn't for everyone, but it really helped Hunter regulate his sleep patterns. The most important thing, though, is to be consistent with it. One night isn't enough to determine whether it works or not for your LO, so even though it's hard to live through a few nights of crying, it's a commitment that pays off in my book.

Good luck with whatever you try!
