I see in the snack thread that a lot of you have given cheerios, teething biscuits, etc. We haven't introduced Scarlett to wheat yet because I'm worried about food allergies. How did you introduce to wheat? We gave her yogurt once, and she broke out in hives, so we are now waiting to see an allergist, and I am nervous about introducing her to any other potentially allergic foods.

I'm also not allowed to eat dairy until we see the allergist which is a major bummer!

That's too bad. I'm holding off on introducing any nuts, berries, and eggs due to allergies in my family. You could always give her the rice crackers (Baby Mum Mums). I don't think they have any wheat.

I think you're doing the right thing. Food allergies don't run in our family and so we've started introducing cheerios to Gabe and so far so good. He had his first little taste of yogurt the other day and did fine so that will probably be something new for him as well.

No food allergies on my side, but TONS on my husbands. I've been testing some out lately. We give Sully Puffs which have wheat and I recently gave him some vanilla custard with bananas which had egg yolks and he was fine. Only thing we've been avoiding completely is dairy and nuts. DH would go into an asthma attack within minutes of dairy when he was little. He outgrew that allergy, though.

They may contain milk and I am almost SURE that they do contain it as Orion reacted to them.) Orion pretty much only eats organic brown rice puffs and some baby gourmet baby food. That is it, we are holding off on many things to due to allergies as well. It is looking like he has a severe allergy to eggs even though we have never even fed them to him.

Baby Mum Mums have rice, potato starch, sugar, banana (if you get that flavor), salt. It says underneath the ingredients that it may contain traces of milk though.

Where do you find brown rice puffs? I'd love to give her some sort of finger food like that to play with.

We will not introduce wheat until after his 2nd birthday because of the strong Celiac gene on my side. He is diagnosed milk allergy, so we will challenge at the advice of his pedi.

As far as other foods, we are not giving strawberries or peanuts until later. The other major allergens, when they were introduced, nothing new was given to him for a day or two to make sure there was no allergy.

Kat.

In the organic cereal aisle. They are marketed as a cereal but are great as finger foods since they are just the right size and dissolve very quickly so they aren't a choking hazard.
