Are you brushing you LO's teeth/gums yet? I just started swabbing my LO's teeth and gums with a damp gauze pad. I just recently tried using a baby toothbrush but it seems kinda harsh.

For those who have started to brush, what are you using and how do you go about brushing LO's teeth?

I do, when I remember, with a baby brush, like one of the ones that goes on your finger.... at least once every day or every other day

I give him his banana toothbrush to play with and he chews on it all the time. I figure he's doing a pretty good job on his own.

Part of our night time routine! We use Grins and Giggles toothpaste with one of those rubbery brushes that goes on your finger. Sullivan LOVES it. As soon as I put the brush on my finger he starts to giggle and smile ear to ear.

i need to start doing this. I looked for a toothbrush at the store the other day, but i was at a grocery store, not Target or BRU, etc.

do they really need the toothpaste yet? or would one that she chews on be enough?

I wipe her tooth with a wash cloth for now. I only brush her tooth every now and then as the bristles don't seem soft enough.

When I actually remember to do it I don't use any toothpaste. Are we supposed to?

I googled this question and according to the following q&a, toothpaste isn't necessary until after they turn 1..

Is toothpaste needed for baby teeth? - iVillage

"Brushing teeth as soon as they erupt is most important. Using toothpaste on new teeth is not critical until after a child is over a year old. For children younger than one year, brushing without paste is sufficient. If your infant is fussy during brushing time, the taste of an extremely small amount of toothpaste may encourage cooperation."
