I feel as though Brendan is in between his purees/cereals and table food. He likes to have some purees sometimes and fingers foods a lot of the time. However, he is very picky. He loves his spinach/pea/pear puree but refuses to eat peas. He never liked carrot purees so it makes sense he does not like cooked carrots. He only ate apple puree if it was mixed with stuff so he also wont eat cooked pieces of apple. This stinks because I wanted to try sending him with the Gerber apple or carrot pickups to daycare to make it a little easier on me but he hates them.
Things he does like: falafel, yogurt and greek yogurt, lentils and lentil soup, steak, meatballs, bagels, haddock or cod, salmon, cinnamon toast, corn bread, only certain kinds of macaroni/cheese, he loved pizza the other night, meatloaf made with veal/beef/pork, beef stew, he likes sweet potatoes but they seem to mush and he doesn’t eat much because of it and sometimes he will eat rotisserie chicken.
Things he refuses to eat: peas, green beans, carrots, apples, pears from the jar and bananas (very weird because these were his two favorite fruit purees), hummus, most pastas and rice (unless the rice is coming from lentil soup) and pita bread.
I am struggling with what to send him for lunches/snacks for daycare and also for dinners at home. I try to give him whatever we are eating for dinner but I cant send a lot of it for lunch the next day because the daycare will only heat up his food in a crock-pot of hot water they keep to warm food/bottles. It’s hard to heat falafel or meatballs that way lol. Also for snacks he eats puffs, yogurt melts, arrowroot cookies or cheerios but he sometimes chokes on cheerios because he stuffs fistfuls in and they don’t melt like the puffs. Sorry I feel like this post is all over the place!
So I guess I am looking for ideas on what to send him for lunch or snacks and what other veggies or fruits I can try. He sometimes uses his finger and thumb other times he tries to grab fistfuls.

I am looking for help too - Morgan loves her purees and we eat poorly, so we struggle with what to give her. Let me know if you get any good advice!

I have pretty much the same questions as you do so I'll admit that I'm one of the readers

He's a tough one with food!! C loves, pasta, loves chicken no matter how it is prepared ,he will inhale it. He is not a big veggie eater, he likes sweet potatoes , carrots, and butternut squash. I either steam or boil and cube up small. He likes bananas, blueberries, apples. All of my kids love V-8 splash juice, particularly, the Mango one. C gets it in a sippy diluted so he does get vitamins and veggie servings from it. He will also eat mushrooms, but only in stuffed chicken. For lunch he often has a grilled cheese , whole grain mac-n-cheese, or left overs from the night before. He basically eats most meats, loves catfish, and crawfish. Lunches for them are tough when they are kind of in between.

Have you tried a different food brand? C will only eat Earth's Best jarred foods... even if I make it myself. He loves Happy Baby stuff... like their Munchies, Puffs and Yogurt Melts. He won't eat any other brand for those items. He also loves dried fruit. His big thing he will always mow down are some dried cranberries and some shredded cheese. LOVES the shredded cheese. What about YoBaby yogurt? They do the meal ones that have a veggie/fruit in them. They also have the YoBaby drinable yogurts.
I remember having a REALLY hard time with sending food to L's daycare at this age - it's such an in between stage.
We used to buy L the turkey/chicken from the deli that was the REALLY good all nautral stuff - it can be cold but it's not like regular lunch meat, do you know what I mean? He would eat that.
Will he eat any of the leftovers cold? C loves cold stuff... so maybe some cold meatballs or what not wouldn't be that bad of an idea. Pita bread or bagel pieces with cream cheese or hummus on them? I'll try and think of more ideas!
