Does anyone live here, or close? We are looking to buy a house in a few years, and I have been looking all around the country to find someplace in our (low) price range with everything we need. I'm not a fan of the tons of snow Syracuse gets, but other than that it looks perfect (and I can learn to deal with the snow. We live in northern MA now....so it's not like I'm coming from Miami or anything lol).
So do you like it there?

I live about 2 hours from Syracuse, and my younger brother lives about 30 minutes away or less Syracuse is nice! There are some great 'burbs in that area (which I would recommend) that have great school districts. I'm not sure about directly in the city. They definitely get a lot of snow there.. but if that doesn't concern you, I wouldn't worry about it. The plow systems in NY tend to be pretty decent.

Just for curiosity sakes, have you ever looked at Rochester? Rochester has SUPER houses for a cheaper price range, and also good schools (and low crime) in the 'burbs outside of the city. You can find tons of houses for under 150,000 there. (not sure what your range is?).

The only issue with anything in NY is school/property taxes... have you researched that? You could pay upwards to $5,000 a year for a $150,000 house. The taxes are a bit lower in Syracuse (over Rochester) but the house choices are more plentiful and cheaper in Rochester so it may even out.

I know a lot about realty/houses/taxes in NY (I live near Albany, btw) because I've researched a TON about different area when we were deciding to relocate (we're moving FROM ny in 5-6 years, we decided) so if you have any questions feel free to ask I've been to nearly every city in NY, lol!
