Hello fellow midwest moms,

Any tips on beating the heat with little ones? I'm in Missouri, and it's too hot to go outside most of the day, which means I have to come up with ideas for inside activities that are fun.

We do have a few parks in town with wading pools, so those are a good option, but I hate using the car so much in the heat too.

Would love to hear your ideas of fun summer, indoor activities!

Brittany

Do you have a childrens museum nearby? That is always an option for us...otherwise we are a wii family and play that when its too nasty to be outside. Making rice krispie treat sculptures is fun and cheap too. You can make a bunch of little ones or work on a big one together!

I love the heat, so I just lather her up with Badger and and go play in the pool, or the sprinklers, or spray park.

Inside, i ditto the childrens museum, the zoo usually has a lot of indoor exhibits, movies in the afternoon are much cheaper, the library, a place like PE101, swimtastic, etc. batting cages, putt putt (we have several indoor locations for these nearby, idk if thats a choice for you), rollerskating, bounce U

Closest children's museum is 90 miles. Only real indoor option here is the library or the conservation dept, both of which are good ones.

Funny you should mention rice krispie treat sculptures - they use those often on Cake Boss, which I've been watching a lot of the past few days. Great ideas!

Thanks ladies!

you can always get a small kiddie pool for your own yard...that way you dont have to drive but can still play in the water! get a big enough one you can sit in it as well with the kids!
